Tennant isn't bad. He annoys me from time to time. There are episodes where he is absolutely brillant. There are episodes where I cringe to watch him. There are times when I just want to smack his Doctor up-side the head and yell: LESS BROODING! MORE CRAZY HIGH-JENKS! So, since I'm pretty sure he CAN act, and DOES act pretty well most of the time in Doctor Who, I think most of my problems with him as the Doctor come from the writers. I've loved him in all of the Moffat episodes, in Smith and Jones, in Human Nature (where his acting was amazing), in pretty much all of season two with the exception of Doomsday where he made that annoying face a few times too many... Oh, and Runaway Bride. *shudders* that was terrible. Sorry. I may watch it another day and revise my opinion, but... *shudders* And Russel continued Doctor as God imagery just squicks me the wrong way and makes me deeply uncomfortable. Anyway, me thinks that my passing dislike (because I'm loving him in season 4 thusfar) of Tennant is completely based on the writing, and, perhaps, on my continued inability to get over Nine's regeneration - which isn't Tennant's fault at all. He's still not my favourite Doctor though. Anyway, at this point I'm probably just being argumentitive and trying to get the last word. It's a nasty habit. Tennant has some of the best expressions of any Doctor, and some of the best humour, to sum up: I just don't like him when he's emo!

*hugs CP* I understand and I accept that and the fact your a JP fanatic as long as you can accept that I like him and PD and SM. ;D Tennant isn't bad. He annoys me from time to time. I like it when the Fourth Doctor acts alien. It's one of the few things I think TB did quite well when he was the Doctor. I also notice DT draws upon that characteristic quite a bit himself. Looking at your example for TB, I notice DT did something similiar series 3 when they ended up at the end of the universe. He talked about going to a place no Time Lord has ever dared to go before because of the uncertainity and danger. Then he grins manically and rushes out of the TARDIS to see it. That's what I like about DT; either by choice or by script he tries to draw upon habits and characteristics of prior incarnations of the Doctor to reflect the experience and personalities that have come before. That's the benefit of having someone who was actually a fan of DW before playing the part. Oh, this is exactly the type of debate we want here, though. It's not an argument, we're not being immature and saying 'ZOMG, UR DOCTER SUKS!!1'. We've found a difference in opinions and are calmly explaining each side. =D As I've said (I think), I love every Doctor. They're all brilliant in their own way. For the longest time I could not decide on a favourite Doctor, and just recently Four squeaked ahead of the rest. Just by a bit. I've been watching just about only Four serials recently, so my love for him has increased immensely. But the same thing happens when I watch Three serials, or Six, or Seven. But returning to the topic (sort of), the thing about Tom is that he makes the Doctor so alien. As he should be. Citing an example, 'This lighthouse is under attack and in a moment we might all be dead.' And he grins his mad grin after that. What human would do that? Tom brings an unpredictable edge to his Doctor, and that, I think, is what makes him one of the best Doctors. Now, I'm just against Ten 'cos I'm rather sick of him being emo. But this series is looking up and he was my first Doctor, and so gets a special little place for that.

It amused me to no end when he offered Martha a Venusian Toothbrush
I understand and accept your love for PD and DT. They aren't my favourites, but they have their moments (and I am STILL trying to get a copy of Caves *grumbles*). Also, PD is very cute. DT...
Can anyone explain what everyone - even my room mate who doesn't like his Doctor - finds so attractive about Tennant??? Am I the only person who doesn't find him attractive??? (I think he's too skinny and his nose is a funny shape...)

I don't know if I can answer why, but I know that I don't think he's incredible handsome compared to PD *fans self before she faints* But I do think he's cute particularly when he's talking in his normal voice and he's quite casual in his topic. BTW, have you showed your roomate Casanova yet, CP? She might enjoy that if she hasn't seen it yet. It's good, funny at the beginning, but a bit depressing by the end. A bit disturbing by the end don't you mean? But that was actually her first exposure to TD *shifty eyes* I used it to lure her into watching episodes...
When TD speaks in his native accent it gives me shivers. I know RTD didn't want a "tour of the regions" with the Doctor's accents, but I do wish he's have let Tennant speak normally. It would have made his acting more natural... (though I would have been forced to take a cold shower after every episode. I'm very sensitive to voice p0rn)
I agree whole-heartedly on PD *fans self with you*
Oolala!

Okay, my input on the whole "DT's Crazy-Face" song-and-dance is that... It's amazing, hilarious and just unusual enough to be appealing... but I do agree that he overuses it. A face THAT good has to be used in moderation, otherwise it loses it's charm. And yes, Clifford, I do think being Scottish has something to do with it. A rather looney lot, those Scotsmen.
