I think the idea here is that Americans shouldn't try to steal the cultural phenomena of other countries and Americanize them because the results can be... iffy.
I'm pretty sure America was responsible for the weird Cusing movies too... the ones where Susan and Barbara were sisters for some reason...

I'm pretty sure not. That's all the Brits there. It was Hammer House of Horror for those DW films I think (British).
Anyplace "America" pops up on this board, I'm translating it in my head, into "Hollywood".

Okay, I think I understand. It's like when Americans say the UK or Britian when they really only mean London or vice versa. But please realise that LA, Hollywood, and NYC don't actually define the entire US or America. I live in the Midwest and we're nothing like the coasts. It was Hammer House of Horror for those DW films I think (British). Anyplace "America" pops up on this board, I'm translating it in my head, into "Hollywood".

I'm just going to jump in here and steal the thread, if that's all right. Back at my family's home, The Great PBS was kind and benevolent and allowed us to watch Boomtown, Bad Wolf, and Parting of the Ways all in one marathon setting after first awtching them nearly two years ago. I am now filled with the Nine love, the Lynda love (yay namesake), the Jack love, the Mickey love, and even the Rose love and the RTD love. Seriously, those three episodes are amazing. What happened, Rose? You were as brilliant as Donna in that; why did you regress? Same goes for you, RTD. That finale was epic, and big, and suspenseful, and heart-tugging, and even Dalek-filled, and yet you still managed to pull it off. And Nine, I believed, has successfully edged out Six as my new favourite Doctor. He was...fantastic.
