In hopes of bringing the forum back to life, I've decided to post! 'Cos Five loves cricket so much, could any Brits here explain the game to me? No matter what I read, I still can't get it. xD

You're not alone. I don't understand cricket...don't understand much sport.

I, unfortunately am expected to understand baseball and American football. It's like a requirement of being American.

Try trying to understand the off-side rule....I think its geneticly impossible for me to appreciate football (soccer). I get bored so easily. At least I can grasp the concept of Formula 1...I watch the start and the finish and any crashes in the middle.

I enjoy football, at least I understand the point of the game. But for some reason, cricket eludes me.

...Which I've never heard of. -Stupid American here. Major sports are baseball, American football, and basketball with some minors such as golf and tennis thrown in.-

Rounders is the form of Cricket played in Ireland. That's how I know it anyway.
Cricket is played on a pitch, roughly 22 feet long. At each end there are three verticle sticks, called stumps, upon which are the bails. There is a bowler (like the pitcher [sp?] in baseball) and a batsman. The batsman is attempting to make runs. A run is when the batsman touches the other end of the pitch, while his partner runs to where he was, touching the ground.
The game is divided into overs, of six balls each, and innings (singular). When ten of the batting tema's players have gone, they switch roles with the other team. After that it happens again in a new innings.
This is my vague familiarity of the game. I'm sure I've left stuff out. I'm amazed I know as much as I do.
