I wasn't that keen on Five to be honest - having recently bought the new beginning box and seeing Castrovalva again I think that Peter Davison would make a great Doctor as he is now, because as Blackadder would say first time around he was wetter than a haddock's bathing costume. Still prefer him to Tennant though...

I think liking Five and being female are closely connected. Probably something to do with his, er, wetness? What does that mean anyway? Probably exactly what I think it means, but just confirming...

I agree. I think Peter Davison would make a much better Doc now he is older than before.
However, listening to some of his audio's he doesn't really try and make a characterisation for the 5th Doc... just sounds like Peter Davison going through the motions!

Please someone tell me what that word means?? I'm so terribly confused...
I have to agree about the audios though. I got myself all excited for it (Fivey! Fivey!) and then it was just some middle age guy just talking... Six, Seven and Eight are much much better, probably because their voices haven't changed from when they were on the show. Five's voice is barely even recognisable (at least in the audio I heard) you really had to tilt your head and ear squint.

Yeah, what is the word?
I thought it was just me that thought this about PD's voice in the audio's. I mean, he could try a bit harder and try and sound more like he used to in the series.
Next time I see him at a convention or appearance think I'm going to mention it too him and see what he says!

I disagree I've heard many brilliant audios that he really gives an amazing performance as Five. ;D Like in Kingmaker or Excelis Dawn. He's amazingly in character and state of mind. I agree. I think Peter Davison would make a much better Doc now he is older than before. However, listening to some of his audio's he doesn't really try and make a characterisation for the 5th Doc... just sounds like Peter Davison going through the motions!

I'll agree with you that Kingmaker was good, and I liked him in Zagreus too, but of all the audio docs he's my least favourite.
I love him in Time Crash though. Brillant with a cherry on top!

Alright, everyone here's even younger than I'd thought...
In the one PD audio I heard, maybe the first one, with Colin too, neither seemed recognizable. I think Colin put on a particular voice for his Doctor that he may not be able to do anymore.
I wish the acting seemed to come alive on the few audios I've heard... instead they sound like they're sitting in a cramped recording studio, which of course they are.
I just saw "Star Crash"... (Tennant/Davison) The fifth Doctor didn't seem to be there. He rightfully made fun of Ten for blathering about every little thing he sees, but Davison's Doctor just wasn't that easy to provoke, and never that bombastic or sarcastic. Better posture too. I see Five as a calm unflappable still center, or something. He stands up straight, takes a deep breath (or many if he's been running or even walking fast... I know how he feels lately) and gets things done. I'm not sure I'm making sense tonight.
Regarding celery as apparel, I think we should wear our entire dinner around for a couple hours before we eat it, just to see if we like it.

I've just realised that you can buy audio downloads from Big Finish as well as CDs. Since the downloads are a good 20$ cheaper I am very chuffed about this. I've had my eye on 'Red' for awhile now.
Eight and Seven are my favourite audio Doctors I think.

I personally think they are all wonderful. I do see the bad things you're saying. To me the actors and sound effect people did such an amazing job that I can shut my eyes imagine all that I hear happening like it was on TV. And it's breathtaking and exciting! ;D I can't wait to get a hold of the latest copy of the DW Magazine. They are giving away a free and new Five audio story with it. Yeah!!!! Go Five!

I like five, I don't really have a favourite as yet, am sooooo good at putting decision-making off it should be a sport I'd make a mint. However, I DO like five and he is among my favourites. I think there is something so new and gormless about him, you root for five, where you kinda fear 7 and four you kinda wanna medicate and ten you wanna hug and advise to but stock in kleenex (my other faves) but five has a sweetness about him that the others lack, aside from maybe two but his is a senile sweetness. So yes, give five some love!

Five reminds me of my uncle Joe...
He is my favorite doctor because he is mostly optimistic, he is very honest and no one believes him, and he never was mean to his compaions, even if they were annoying.
Plus he has blond emo hair. ( It's short, but it's there)

I kind of have that feeling about Time Crash as well having watched it again after I'd seen all of Five's old episodes. He would snap at his companions and other people every now and then but usually not until he'd had a pretty horrible day and no one was listening to him, he seemed quite a bit too grumpy in Time Crash. I agree, I've listened to several of the Fifth Doctor's audio adventures and although his voice has changed slightly (forgivable since he was young when he did it) I can definitely hear how he still sounds like himself, I always loved it when his voice cracked during the episodes That amuses me as well I like it best when it's longer
