I kind of like that splitting concept, because it at least leaves a little bit of a chance for redemption of the character out there somewhere.... I mean redemption from being a robot-skeleton-cannibal with superhero powers, not you know...redemption... Sort of the point of the idea... the insane sacrificed himself to save the Doctor (potentially hinting at the Master preferring the Doctor around than dead), while this other one can be out there being more like Delgado and/or Aniley's Master. Another schoolmate gone wrong? A former teacher perhaps? Well, if it is a schoolmate, I'd like it to be Rani. Of course, the idea of academy-based enemies aren't new. He's faced his teachers before. My own pet theory would be that Romana took a page out of the Doctor's book and tucked all of Gallifrey away in a little bubble somewhere so it all still exists as it was before the Time War. Maybe like a big TARDIS, you know... go through the little door with the glowing EXIT sign and voila!, Gallifrey! Actually, I have a similar fanon idea in my head. I like to believe that the group of Time Lords with Rassilon are only a small portion of the surviving Time Lords. I think Romana did gather other (those who apposed Rassilon and/or the High Council) and they (with or without her) are either hiding place not even the Doctor knows or in a separate time lock or dimensional bubble from Rassilon... for now.

I think I'd like to see the Master come back as a quieter, more subdued villain. There was something Rusty was trying to do with Ten, a reversal of roles, which never quite succeeded because, well, Rusty just wasn't good with subtle things. The Moff however seems to be quite at home with complex plots which, you know, resolve, and can be subtle I think (at least, when he isn't bashing us over the head about how Eleven is a... you know ). He seems less skilled with characterization though, so the trade off might not be as happy as we were hoping for. ANYWAY; I'd like to see the Master come back as a quiet, crafty old man who plays against Eleven's shiftiness and makes us wonder who the real hero is (well, it's the Doctor of course). But then they could work in some big ol' moral message (like DW loves to do) about appearances, intentions, actions, and etc. etc. whatever. I just want to see the Master in matching tweed 'kay?

No. I haven't a clue what you are eluding to. What is it? What are you suggesting, CP? He seems less skilled with characterization though, so the trade off might not be as happy as we were hoping for. I don't know about him being less skilled at characterizations (then again, maybe I'm missing understand the meaning of the word), but I like Amy (both of them) and Eleven as well as Liz 10 thus far. Of course, that may be more due to the actors. I'm seriously impressed with Karen, who I never imagined I'd like. I'd like to see the Master come back as a quiet, crafty old man who plays against Eleven's shiftiness and makes us wonder who the real hero is (well, it's the Doctor of course). Crafty old man? That sounds a bit like One. Now, if the new Master were to be a bit like One that might be an interesting challenge for Eleven. And I like the idea of both of them in tweed.... because let's face it, the Delgado!Master was obviously jealous of Three's cap and frills. *giggle* He knew he could never pull it off, so he went with the black and goatee instead. Oops! I just gave myself a new plot bunny. LOL XD I don't know if it is original, but how about a cracky!story showing that all these years the real reason behind the Master's evil deeds was jealousy about the Doctor's fashion sense. Master: Curse you, Doctor, and your perfect fashion sense! Why can't I be a trend-setter? Just once!
Doctor (grinning and leaning in close): Have a jellybaby... it'll make you feel better
Master (growls and fumes): One day, Doctor. Just you wait!

I think the Master probably needs to take a bit of a break at this point, but if they were to bring him back, I think I'd like to see something more in the Delgado mode - a sort of suave gentleman-baddie, a man of wealth and taste if you will, who's in the game because he kind of enjoys it (and because he's obsessed with the Doctor, of course!), and however many redshirted UNIT squaddies he might kill off, he'd never dream of actually doing anything permanent to his best enemy...or would he??
And they could even put him in a Three-style cape and ruffles - that'd be nice. ;D
