This will probably not mean anything to most (all?) of you, but it amuses me: I'm starting to suspect that Rafael Benitez, the manager of Liverpool Football Club, may in fact be the Master: He just needs to ditch the red tracksuit for a black Dr No jacket, and he's away.

now that's just spooky. Does he hypnotise opposing teams into losing??? That's what it looks like he's doing in that picture! He hasn't yet revealed what the evil scheme he's working on actually is, but I suspect he's just biding his time. He's supposed to rule the players with a firm hand, but you'd expect that, wouldn't you?

LOL He does look like the master. However I can't say that he acts like the master. I don't pay much attention to sports. He LOOKS like he acts like the master.

Just like there are a collection of people out there who could be the Doctor, there are also a co-existing group of people that could be the master. It's Murphy's law.

It is an astonishingly evil expression on his face there, isn't it? As far as I know, he has shown no real life urge to dominate the world, cause random death and destruction or get even with the Doctor at all costs, but surely anyone with a beard like that must be some sort of fiend? Actually, the guy is like a hero to me, I just like that picture.

How do you know that he isn't plotting to take over the world, jjpor? You're right - I've been a naive fool!!! I realise now that when he talks about winning all the time, and dominating not only England but Europe too, he isn't talking about football...

You do that. It should be a good show if nothing else. Look out, Doctor. Shrody and Jjpor are out to save the human race.

You do that. It should be a good show if nothing else. Look out, Doctor. Shrody and Jjpor are out to save the human race. I haven't made up my mind which side I'm on, yet. Saving humanity and the world may be one of those things that look really good on the surface, but turn out later to be a bad idea in retrospect. I mean, I live in the world, but is it really my kind of thing? I'm not sure that I can be said to be very enthusiastic about it. I'm on the fence, frankly. A little research has revealed that whoever heads the Liverpool football team is next in line if the Prime Minister dies. Oh yeah it's Mr. Magister alright, that's it, I'm sucking up right now. He looks after his lackeys long-term, doesn't he?

I'm sucking up right now. He looks after his lackeys long-term, doesn't he? You see, I like to think that, if Britain were subject to some sort of totalitarian coup, or indeed a takeover by a renegade Timelord with some damn fine facial hair and an extremely dapper dress sense, that I would be a leading light of the, for want of a better term for it, Resistance. We'd arm ourselves, and hide out in the woods, and give ourselves some sort of bad-ass name like The Wolverines, or something, and we'd fight the good fight, standing up for truth, justice, and the American British way. And even if we didn't win, even if we ended up dying in a pool of our own blood, we would at least die Free Men... However, I know, in my heart of weaselly hearts, that were such a thing to happen in real life, I'd be first in line the next morning to sign up for The Party, in the hope that it would save my nearest and dearest from the "labour camps" and, purely coincidentally, get me some sort of cushy government job in the New Order. So, Magnus, I totally second your idea of sucking up to Monsieur Le Maitre, or whatever his alias is this time. And I'd even agree that while saving humanity seems like a fine idea on paper, when you actually take a look at humanity (present company excluded, obviously)... I'd like to know what the Doctor's criteria were when he nominated us his favourite species or whatever.

Sometimes when I'm immersed in metacognition, I"ll debate with myself on how to save humanity... or weather or not saving humanity is a good idea. Now see, it's BECAUSE of Doctor Who that i have hope for the human race. I just think it's depressing that it's going to take an alien invasion for the humans to band together as a species. I mean... if we just did that NOW we could get so much done. Instead we're fighting over stupid wars and things... it makes no sense.

Of course I was just kidding, but I suppose the fact that New Who has taken off to the extent that it has is a hopeful sign.

How did this become debate on whether saving the human race is a good thing or not?
And the question is "if the master is indeed the football coach, and he is plotting to take over the world, and YOU are not in any risk , would you save the human race? "
I would, just to be on the doctor's good side. Maybe we should start a poll...

I would save the world for five dollars, but it would have to be cash and up front.

"if the master is indeed the football coach, and he is plotting to take over the world, and YOU are not in any risk , would you save the human race? " Hmmm.... on the one hand, he coaches my team, and therefore I feel a certain loyalty to him - or maybe that's just his hypnotic Masterly powers. On the other hand, you raise a good point about not getting on the wrong side of the Doctor because, well, we see all the time what happens to people who get on the wrong side of the Doctor... Hmmm.... *sits on fence*
