Hullo! I should have found this place first but in my excitement at being back I didn't look carefully. In any event, I'm formerly Merry the Mad. I wrote at who.fic as whovian42? Capaldi dragged me back to Whoniverse (though I tried to return here even while exiled from my fandom cos the show and I couldn't get on) and tragically discovered I lost all of my log-in info. Also >_< I crashed your DW live thread. I'm so sorry! But I've returned! Can my account be retrieved? I was a time-lady! If not I'll stay anew I suppose. In any case who's still about? I saw JJ...

Well, hello stranger! Long time no see. As you've probably seen, activity around here is much reduced lately, but there are still a few of us showing up for things like DW Live (which you are of course more than welcome to attend if you happen to be available tomorrow night - please see the details on the relevant thread). Unfortunately I am only a mod and do not have admin access to Proboards (and we haven't seen anybody who does around here in quite some time), so I don't think I will able to restore your previous account profile - unfortunately you will probably have to start from scratch. Sorry! The main thing, though, is that you're here. Welcome back! It is very good indeed to hear from you again and I hope to see you around here in future. Maybe we can get some of the other oldtimers (and with any luck some newtimers) to poke their heads around the door again? EDIT: Oh, and while I think I liked the Eleven era much more than you did, I completely share your admiration for Capaldi. He's great.

He's just perfect (Capaldi) and aye, I felt a bit like you, JJ, watching 11. I'd grumble and groan and slap my forehead and eventually all I could think of was that line from The Exorcist (the book not the film) "once, Karras, met God in this sight. Now, like a lover forsaken, he keeps the vigil." And I am /sorry/ to all the Eleven fans, I truly am, he just made me wanna scream. The Ponds got a happy ending so he gave up and went to live in the freakinf clouds? No. If Jo, SJ, /Romana/, Rose, and Donna didn't make him him quit .... Aw lord I was apologising and started complaining instead. You see what he does to me? Haha! It is good to be. I do see LL from time to time, but she's the only one I've managed to keep vague contact with. But JJ, I saw you recced me again ages back at Calufrax and cried. I did like Eleven twice, 11 fans. When he said "nobody human has anything to say to me today" (the star whale one) and when he was walking down the steps to the Pandorica and looked just like a little boy and christmas morning. Aside from that, I was rooting for river to kill him. I had this BRILLIANT theory eleven was the master .... It didn't play out. And Missy!!!!! Where do I go to share my MYRIAD CONFLICTING thoughts on her? And can I just say as a River fan from before she was ruined I actually approved of the christmas special wholly, and here was me dreading her return cos /MOFFAT/. Oh I have a pic I must share somewhere in the thread that's a lynch mob for MOFFAT. We have one of those yeah?

Heheh, you know I like Eleven a lot, but you do sum up some of the more head-scratching aspects of his era very well. I do like Moffat as a writer, really, but he does occasionally try my patience (read: annoy the hell out of me). Like with his misuse of River, for example - her relationship with the Doctor is twisted beyond all redemption by now imho, even with Capaldi and Kingston doing their best to sell it in the Xmas special. When there were still people around here, though, I think for the most part they were with the Moffat camp. Times change, mind you...although I think you actually need, like, people before you can start a mob with blazing pitchforks etc. Capaldi, though - what a class act, both as the Doctor and in the general way he comports himself around the media and fandom. It's a genuine pleasure to watch him ply his craft onscreen. And Missy! Possibly the best interpretation of the Master since the original - certainly blows Simm's portrayal out of the water. Michelle Gomez deserves much kudos, as, I guess, does Moffat...a bit...for writing it. And really great to see her interacting with Twelve - two great performers striking sparks off each other and a really interesting take on that relationship. You could start a thread on her, if you liked, and we could discuss her, just the two of us...! I do wish we had more people about the place these days. Like you, I'm really only in touch with a couple of the other oldtimers. It would be nice if we could get some people back here posting, somehow... Oh, and all recs are very much deserved.
