I remember there use to be a discworld thread. This thread is to talk about anything Discworld related. Favourite characters. Books. Terry P. gossip. Long detail discussion and rants about the statements he makes on society.

Funnily enough, I was just having a look the other day at one of my old Discworld books - Witches Abroad - and thinking that it was just as funny now as when I first read it, oh...must be 15 years or more now. I read all of the Discworlds almost religiously up to about 2000, and then fell behind for some reason and haven't actually read some of the more recent ones, something I may have to remedy in the near future. I'm a big fan of the ones I have read, anyway. Very sad indeed about Terry Pratchett's illness, which appears to be entering a more serious phase now going by the recent news about him having to cancel public appearances.

Weird. I wrote a whole thing about reading Going Postal. First Discworld book. And now it seems to have poofed. Unless I submitted somewhere else. O.o Funnily enough, I was just having a look the other day at one of my old Discworld books - Witches Abroad - and thinking that it was just as funny now as when I first read it, oh...must be 15 years or more now. For a while, between 2000 and 2005 ish, I am told the books get a bit repetitive and boring. Then in 2005 Terry introduced new characters. Also, rumor is his daughter wants to continue the book series. I am not sure if that is a good idea. Unless she ends it. Like, creating a conclusion for the all characters but stating that in fact the world went on. New life was born, new adventures were taken. For these characters however, their time on this world is coming to an end, just as we do. Kind of ending. Reading Going Postal, one character makes an statement to the main character Moist Von Lipwig about the true person he is. IT made a strong comment about the banking system and how the rich will stay rich and the poor are the ones who will get screwed. I was so shocked by the statement because it said so much about the 2008 finical crisis.
