One I've been enjoying recently is an AU inspired by the fact that Jon Pertwee thoroughly enjoyed playing the role of a cheesy vampire as well. The author is PandaInTheStars - yes, our own starpanda! It doesn't seem to be at Teaspoon, so the link is at ff.net. Blood and Tea launches from the concept that the Doctor is working for UNIT, with all the same people in character etc. except instead of being a Time Lord, he's a vampire. It's quite well done, I thought - she has a sequel underway that is still incomplete, but here's the first one: www.fanfiction.net/s/8528440/1/Blood-and-TeaJolly good.

Thanks for the rec, Primsong! I haven't uploaded Blood and Tea on Teaspoon partly because I'm not sure if it's too severely AU or not and partly because I look upon it half with pride and half with embarrassment. I am still writing the sequel, but with five+ AP exams to get ready for it's getting kind of difficult. Are we allowed to rec unfinished stories? If not, ignore the following. Two Birds in a Cage by Daystar Searcher is probably my favorite fanfic to date. The basic premise is that the Third Doctor crashlanded onto Inferno-verse Earth and has been caged there ever since. The story follows the interaction between the Doctor and SJ (Sarah Jane) and their slow journey to trusting each other. There are a few adult themes but it's mainly a fantastic delve into the potential angst that the Doctor's imprisonment on Earth has always held. It hasn't been updated in a while but I highly recommend you give it a read. Here it is: www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=43133&chapter=1

I'm mostly reading Skyfall and Rise of the Guardians stories these days, but here's a DW fic I'm currently following. The Doctor Came to Stay www.fanfiction.net/s/8604303/1/The-Doctor-Came-to-Stay by Dobby's Socks on FF.net. Author's Summery: What exactly did the Doctor get up to during that time he lived with the Ponds in "The Power of Three"? Suggestions welcome! A sweet and occasionally heartbreaking story showing how the Doctor attempts to fit in with the Ponds' life on Earth. Gets extra points for actual, meaningful appearances by Rory's dad- Also, the Doctor plays Soccer again... And Wii tennis, but I'll let you read and find out about that on your own. Fic is K+ and told in manageable chunks.

Without You by Memory Dragon on Teaspoon: www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=41937Author's Summery:Surprised to find the Master at his home, the Brigadier is immediately suspicious. The Brigadier is eventually forced to admit the even more surprising fact the Master isn't there to stir up trouble. Faced with actually having to help the Master, the Brigadier resigns himself to a few more adventures. In which the Brig ends up coming to a truce with, and eventually traveling with the Master. Also in which the TARDIS apparently decides to make the Master atone by forcing him to travel and save the universe in the Doctor's place. Angst, but happy ending, so no worries.

Fic for this morning: 100 word dabble called ' Whales Can't Fly" www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=44069 by Shadowsong on Teaspoon. Author's Summary: The Doctor tries to talk to a rather confused looking whale Black Humor- Since we've been mentioning Douglas Addams more than usual this far off of the City of Death reviewing, this dabble is technically a crossover with Hitchhiker's Guide - featuring only one character, (take a guess.)

I'm mostly reading Skyfall and Rise of the Guardians stories these days... If you haven't found psychicsaphie on ff.net yet, do go look her up - start with "Snowbird" then the "Honey Tree" one, one of the most enjoyable, quality RotG authors I've found.

' The Lonely God(zilla)' by Cryptile on Teaspoon: www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=6256Author's Summary: Because nothing else is canon. One-shot that's a touch cracky as you might imagine from the tittle, but actually quite honestly serious in it's comparisons. Never heard anyone else draw these parallels but I read this whole fic with my mouth hanging open as I realized the comparison was actually going to work.

" Little Details" by Lyricwritesprose on Teaspoon: www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=49024Author's Summary: Sometimes, the Doctor messes up on the little things. Set immediately after "Vampires of Venice," featuring Rory's first morning on the TARDIS.Sort one shot that's a slice of life on the TARDIS and of Rory adapting to it. The Doctor is slightly not human and a little bit crazy- Amy loves it, and Rory is already learning to roll with it. Love for the first line and mentions of the Doctor having a "Hazmat biscuit tin". Also this fic by Lyricwritesprose " Faces" www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=47402Author's Summary: The Doctor explains regeneration to Rory and Amy. Set shortly after the end of "The Big Bang."Because Eleven talks about wishing he'd stolen Maxil's hat and how he'd like to stroke it and call it Ermintrude.

"The Stars Slide Down" by honeynoir Author's Summary: When time stood still, Amy Pond had an office on a train. She came back for her imaginary friend.
Short missing scene fic because I'm still badly missing the Ponds, and I wanted more about the scraggly toga Doctor and the Not-time/all-time world in TWoRS. Also, another honeynoir fic because she writes lovely, subtly tragic things.

More Than True by DameRuth www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=29142&textsize=0&chapter=1For a slight change of pace from my usual recs, we have a Nine fic, set shortly after Jack hooked up with team tardis (though not in the sense he probably would have liked.) Features Jack coming to the realization that the Doctor is literally the stuff of legends, and the Doc getting to flash some cool Time Lord powers. Little bit of insecure Jack butting heads with the Doctor and a happy ending! What more could you want?
