Possible spoilers, but not really, not unless you click the link or can infer musical notes from my complaining. Right, so I didn't like the new theme song, and it's still not my favourite, but repeated listening is making it grow on me. I can still dance along with the middle part at least. Because that's what I loved about the theme; the way it got me dancing in my seat, all of them, except for the first bit of this one, which just makes me feel like I need to clean some gunk out of my ears or something because it's so muffled. Anyway... www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlvtV4EDI9c

Yeah, I wasn't really impressed either - I think it'd be much, much better though if they ditched the long intro and got straight into the Wooooo-weeeee-woooooooo bit ;D

I sort of wonder if it just starts that way for just the first story. Perhaps it will smooth out as the season progresses.
Still, I think it holds true like all the theme tunes of DW. The main tune is there just adjusted and redefined for each new Doctor. I mean, I heard people use to angrily rant on about Five, Six, and Seven's themes, saying they were weird compared to One and Two's themes. I'm sure like everything else it's adapting to change.

Frankly, I'm pretty impressed by the dramatic orchestra music that seems to be preceeding the stinger end credit music almost every episode. There's something stiring in it that has hooked me into the series. When used effectively, music and musical scores can bring me to tears... (see Wrath of Kahn, 2010: The Year We Make contact, and Contact).

I'm pretty sure that Adam Savage cage dancing the Funky (time?)Chicken to the DW theme on Tesla coil is, by far, one of the best things I've seen in my life.
