*Just to sum up, because I spent far too long squeeing pathetically over on livejournal, but;
Agreed about the story being a bit thin, but also agreed that that wasn't really the point of this episode. We can get into discussions about whether that was a _good_ think or not a bit later, when I've stopped all my silly squeeing... ;D
The boy Smith was great - I can see the Tennishness too, at times, but it seems a traditional post-regeneration sort of thing to do, and hopefully he'll grow out of it. One very un-Ten-like aspect, though - no man-pain! ;D Yet. I thought he was very good, and extremely confident in his acting choices considering what big shoes he was filling.
Same with Amy - a very interesting character, with a bit of an...interesting relationship with the Doctor already, and well-played I thought both as a child and as a grown-up.
And all of those little maybe-clues and strange moments in the story, surely building up to some big Bad Wolf-like season arc? And Eleven and Amy got off to a good start - started lying to each other before the TARDIS doors had even closed behind them... ;D I hope their relationship continues to develop in this way - it'll never be as good as Seven and Ace, but something along those sort of lines would make me smile, anyway...*

It aired in the US....are we still whiting out? * I quite loved it. I thought Eleven was pretty awesome, even if I did not enjoy seeing him spit out his good, lol. My favorite part was when he sat up, saw that the creatue had turned into him and said, "Well that's rubbish. Who's that?" "That's you. Haven't you seen a mirror?" "It's been a busy day."
I'm unsure about Amy. I think I'll probably end up liking her, but right now she has potential to really bother me. The wedding dress is intriguing and her job choice questionable, but still. I'm amused the Doctor wants to be ginger and keeps picking out ginger companions.
I thought his asking Amy seemed rushed, somehow, but I'm pretty sure that's all in my head. They did keep it true to form, though, in having the Doctor sweep in like a "raggedy prince", lol. I'm going to be honest, at seven I would've spent time dreaming about him, too. I was an impressionable young lass.

Er, the whiting out, I don't know at this point... Yeah, there's something about Amy isn't there? And I'm still trying to put a finger on it, though I wrote an extensive lj essay trying to get a handle on her. At the moment, I'm thinking that the Doctor has some kind of hidden reason for picking her up. Eleven is striking me as very Seven-y you see...

The return of Time Champion... or at least a hint of him.

After watching this episode again, I liked it a lot more. There were still Tennish related moments, but I liked Amy a lot more. Also, I'm thinking we might get a lot more Old Who throwbacks thanks to a certain montage (which I loved, BTW). I kind of feel Rusty was viewing himself as the be all to end all when it came to Doctor Who.
