Okay, so it isn't the assigned reading (which I'm trying to get a hold of but the copy at the uni library is autographed or something and you pretty much have to reserve it in advance)
Anyways, Dracula. I wasn't sure how this would go since older books often have that Old Speak Language Barrier that you need to get around, and sometimes that's easy, sometimes it isn't. I'm about 40 pages in and it's rather griping so far. Of course, the plot is kind of obvious and this being Dracula you know what''s going to happen, but it's enjoyable despite that (or maybe because of that, it's interesting to know more than the main character, though he's definitely starting to catch on...).
It's all done in the epistolary style which usually drives me half bonkers, but again. it's very well done. Better done than Twilight, which I'd thrown against a wall in frustration about the same number of pages in (sorry Twilight fans). But then, you know how it is with originals and copies.
I suppose I should mention at this point that I was inspired to read based on this author's cross-over fic: www.whofic.com/viewuser.php?uid=58
It's very well done fic. I recc'd it on Calufrax awhile back. you should read it.
And finally, who thinks Moffat should grab hold of some of that Old Skool vampire lore to boost viewing figures? Much as it would peeve me off if done wrong... it would hold up the ratings, thus ensuring more Who. More Who is always good.
