If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only have one episode starring Christopher Eccleston, which one would you choose, and why?
Okay, this one is very tough for me. I love "Dalek" and other episodes so much, but I think I will go with "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances." My reasons are that I love Moffat's writing, it's WWII, it has some of CE's greatest speeches, and not to put too fine a point on it . . . Captain Jack Harkness in a fabulous period coat. What's not to love?

The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances because it is scary and it is the only two episodes in season one I can stand.

The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances is really good, but having watched the whole season in the last 2 1/2 weeks, I have to say that Dalek ws the best. It was the first Doctor Who story I ever saw, and caused me to go online and search hungrily for more. Listening to the Doctor talk about the Time War and about the craetures engineered only to hate, it gave me a sense of awe, awe that I still had when rewatching it, even when I'd seen Genesis of the Daleks and stuff and knew the backstory of what he was talking about.

The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. It's real Doctor Who and even real science-fiction, but with the emotion of the RTD era, a perfect combination.

Well, I'm going to go with the crowd and say Empty Child/Doctor Dances. It has everything you could want in a DW story: a brilliant plot, terrifying monsters, gorgeous visuals, humor, sexual tension, a heart-warming ending, suspense, romance, and top-notch character interaction. The trio of Nine, Rose, and Jack has so much chemistry the screen practically gives off sparks as you watch it. One of the great tragedies of the series for me is that the trio lasted only five episodes. What a wonderful mix of personalities the three of them were!

Yeah, sorry to be boring, but Empty Child/Doctor Dances is a really strong story, the perfect blend of humour and drama, and the first part at least is genuinely frightening (to me, anyway!). I do like Dalek, though; I think NuWho Season 1 is a lot stronger than I thought the first time I saw it; it blows Season 2 out of the water, and is overall a lot more consistent than 3 and 4 which, while they had stories I really liked, also had stories I wasn't too keen on.

How dare you be boring by enjoying great Doctor Who stories.

Well, you know, I like to be different where I can, purely for the purposes of stirring up false controversy and debate on the boards ;D , but you really can't argue with that kid in the gasmask, can you? Well, you can try, but he'll get you!

Um.... either "Dalek" "The Unquiet Dead" or "The Doctor Dances". Out of the ones I've seen. I haven't seen that many nine ones. Unfortunately. Okay, I know. "The Unquiet Dead?!!! WHAT, ALDY?!" Hey, I like Dickens. Dickens is awesome. I read Dickens perpetually. I like the episode for that reason alone. lol

I gotta jump on the bus for Empty Child/The Doctor Dances myself. It's got Jack, and it's a worthwhile episode just to hear the Doctor say "Everybody Lives!"

Well, since I apparently haven't replied to this thread (wut?) I'm going to fling myself onto the Empty Child/ Doctor Dances pile but Dalek comes in a very very VERY close second. Actually, it's a tie, but if stranded on a desert island I'll always go for the double episode.
All of Nine is epic win though, and continues to be so with repeated viewing.

I agree. The more I watch Nine, the more I like him. I wish there was Nine audios.

Newton... did you just agree with yourself? LMAO
Technically... well... there's that Five audio "Nine" makes a cameo in, when he wasn't supposed to... and "Four"... lol that audio is made of win and lulz. Kingmaker! That's the name! And Fivey gets drunk.
What's not to love?

While the majority mob has good points on that two parter, I'll have to disagree with them. The two parter was okay: good character moments and lines, but... if I have to pick
For an episode story: the Dalek. Nine's speech just says so much for me about his character and where the Doctor has gone since we last saw him in Survival
For any story: The Monsters Inside, which is a truly exciting Nine story that allows both Nine and Rose to shine on their own as well as together. The complex plot they stumble upon accidentally and how they are unraveling it as they go along is just done so seamlessly, while giving great depth to all those around them. Also, it gives great insight into the Raxacoricofallapatorians in general.

Out of leftfield...I think Parting of the Ways probably deserves some love, really. I'd say it was a much better regeneration episode than EoT Pt II, but people would just think I was being mean about Ten...

I have to go with "Dalek"--you really get a chance to see Nine's dark side in that one. The others are nice too, though.

I've just finished watching "Fathers Day" and found that for the first time, I've really enjoyed an episode with Rose.
I especially like the phantom car circling the church, and knew that would be the payoff, but I really enjoyed this episode so much more than the others, so far.
I haven't gotten to the Dr. Dances or whatever the two parter WWII is, but so far, this would be the one of the Eccleson that I would go for.
Except for "Blink" which I think is great! (I know, Aqua has already pointed out this thread is for favorite episodes of the NINTH doctor. Don't pick on me for that...)
