Am I right in thinking that the activity here is shifting from the message board to the chatroom? If so, I'd just like to say, come back to the board and say hi please, since the chatroom is too hard for me to deal with, because I need to take time with my comments. My brains work slowly... spontaneous conversation's hard. It's neurological, long story. There are display problems and my general befuddlement with chatrooms too, but mainly it's the spontaneous aspect.
This is totally self-serving, I have no right to say it, but I'm saying it anyway. I may be wrong about this too. I'm not at my most perceptive this week.

Nah, the activity seems to be mostly divided. People still post the most important things to the boards, and the actual discussions take place on the boards. The c-box is mostly a "Hi, I see someone else surfing! please talk to me!" or a "I want to blurt out something random which does not deserve a thread of devotion" sort of place.
for example, me complaining about my never-ending workbook assignment. 5000 words is just too long for anything... *sighs*

I agree with Clocket. The C-box is really just to state random things and have a chit chat with someone. You're not missing out too much when not taking part in the C-box.

For instance, I've been moaning about the weather, which is the favourite national pastime of us Brits, after moaning about sports results and moaning about the government (do you detect a unifying theme to all of those pastimes?). No, you're really, really not missing anything.

Thanks everybody. It seems activity is down on all boards I frequent, and the few occasional e-mails from friends have dried up too, and it's not a holiday season of any kind. This happens occasionally and it's spooky.

This happens occasionally and it's spooky. Well I just started a Semtster and I shouldn't be on here. Some people have to work extra to pay the bills. It is the same with me. No one is on. I really must go back to JJpors PM. I need to get off soon.

Didn't miss anything important from me... I think we ended up talking about the plants in our yards briefly. I suppose if it turns out there are other gardener types here, I could start an off-topic thread on it...

My job's been having a server problem and I haven't been able get to work as much as I like. This is most upsetting as money needs making and bills need paying and... stuff but in the good news I'm having fun living the student life: poor but happy, that's me.

I'm sorry for my inactivity, I was quite ill and the littles were even less well. After myriad Doctor's appointments (and not a blasted phonebox in sight *sigh) and rechecks and what not I do believe things are beginning to settle and I will return to my pre-illness activity!

Sorry I haven't been around for awhile too. I've been a bit busy with my thesis of late. Technically, I still am, but now I've had to add in the need for job hunting to that. I'll try to post more.

I am sustained by randomness. I want the version of spontaneous talk that I can work with, where it's all slowed down enough so that I can take part. Message boards work for that.

for a sample of the c-box life (these posts are all like 5-20minutes apart, also, you have to read from bottom to top)
if you want Magnus, I can copy-paste all of the c-box conversations to this thread so that yo don't feel left out
Clocket: Urgh, I hate uber-fail teachers. I have an uber-fail Andean teacher who makes one of the most interesting civilizations in human history BORING
Newton: Brit Lit?
Clocket: Well, we did have an incident or two when the news first broke, but now everything is safely whited
Newton: yes though my evil LD is causing some frustation since my writing is limited.
Kit: And I really don't want to do my Brit Lit homework. Which saddens me because normally I would love to do it, but my teacher is made of uber fail.
Clocket: I quite love writing. Its one of those things that, once you start, you suddenly realise a whole new level of expression
Kit: I'm rather avoiding Who things 'cos I don't want to know who is playing the next doctor, but I shall visit here because I know how safe we are about spoilers. =D Right?
Clocket: KIT!!! I didn't miss you did I?
Newton: wow four memebers! party!
Newton: Kit!
Kit: Sorry, I'm back!
Newton: you know, a year ago if you told me I would be into writing I would have laughed so hard in your face. What have I become?
Newton: ...?
Clocket: the lure or the muse...
Newton: Cruse my Writer Craft, now all I want to do is write when I should be doing homework.
Newton: Hm. I agree.
Clocket: KIT!!!!!
Clocket: I know the feeling; it helps keep you awake a bit
Newton: Well I am doing homework but I will reply to any messages. Haha for some reason I need to have some sort of chat happening when I am doing homework.
Newton: ah! You. post. [older messages]

Thanks, I guess you weren't serious, but the real problem is the large amount of talk and the speed of it.

No; I'm dead serious. If it helps make the site more accessable/ fun for you I'll copy-paste all of the conversations onto the board proper. It's not that hard; just ctrl+c ctrl+v and volia!

Thanks very much for offering, but for reasons stated, that won't help much. I can see the C-box in large print already, and while I don't see a button to click on that lets me participate, the amount of print's too much for my eyes and concentration. I really just hope for the message board proper not to go dry.

I really just hope for the message board proper not to go dry. For the almost 12 months I have been here we have used the c-box many many times to chit chat. With these 12 months have you ever seen this board go dry? We have had our slow times but that isn't the c-box fault.

I didn't somehow offend, did I? If so, sorry. I admitted that I might be wrong about this.
