* hmm, I might have to watch that Confidential now to restore confidence. Yes, yes, I'm sure he'll be great. And though the idea of dark!Doctor frightens me to some degree Reg!Nine played it beautifully. I'm interested in what's to come. For sure. And good point Merry on Tom Baker and Peter Davison. These are trufax.
but the haircute NEEDS to go. Sorry Doctor. The masses have spoken.
(in 20 years, I'll probably find the haircut as endearing as Colin's coat...)

So...now that we are in a dedicated thread with a huge red SPOILERS warning attached, do we still need to be whiting things out? I feel like I'm drifting around in some sort of ghostly E-space thread...

Good question. These posts still show up on the "50 Most Recent Posts", which I and some others like to use, so I'm going to stick to whiting out my stuff just to be safe.

I feel like I'm drifting around in some sort of ghostly E-space thread... A lot of people read the "Last 50 Post", I am one of them, so yes, keep the text white out. UNLESS Clocket is willing to password the thread.

Because of the popularity of the last 50 posts tool I'm going to say please white out your spoilers. Yes it is a bit overkill with the thread already marked, but that's better than having someone reading through the daily updates and suddenly coming across major spoilage!
In other news, the Teaspoon now has an 11th Doctor category.

To end off. (and this isn't actually a spoiler: I HAVEN'T looked at the pictures of 11 yet, but I hope he has blue eyes. Just for old times sake. Of course, I wish more fervently that he can act but... it's the little thing you know?* From what I could see, YES he does - or at least they definitely don't look brown... Whew...one thing in Emo-Boy's favor....that and his not being Emo-Girl, which was a serious fear of mine...

In other news, the Teaspoon now has an 11th Doctor category. It has! I was quite impressed that there were three stories in there already when I looked; enterprising people out there, and wouldn't it be spooky if one of them was spot-on accurate in their portrayal? I, personally, am holding my fire until at least spring 2010. ;D

From a personal standpoint, I think Matt Smith looks promising. I kind of had this whole theory about the Doctor getting younger and younger each time he regenerates (and it's entirely unfounded, but it seemed like a logical thing) and this suits me fine. Of course, I think his youth might bring just as much fangirling as Tennant did, but I suppose, really, any popular and beloved character has the potential for fangirling.
All in all, I'm optimistic.

Just remembered, I saw a interview with David Morrissey the other day, seemed like a really nice fella (and he supports my football team!) and he had a couple of things to say about Doctor Who:
*Firstly, he said that he would have really liked to be the next Doctor, but that he knew when he got the role in the Xmas special that he wasn't really in the running to replace Tennant, because Matt Smith had already been decided on. What he did say was that they kept it deliberately ambiguous and that when he did interviews and things, RTD told him to be as vague as possible and hint that he *might* really be Eleven so as to keep everybody guessing right up to the last minute. Crafty old RTD, eh?
In fact, Merry, I think this is just the latest round in the big con trick, you know; games within games and wheels within wheels, so that we'll all be gobsmacked on New Years Day when Tennant regenerates into...Morrissey!!! ;D ;D*

Hey! Shush, I think JJ makes a fair point, lol, as for donna being romana...well, if you really want to make Donna less cool, go for it. I'm teasing! But I would be disappointed...

Wouldn't it be weird if they _both_ turned out to be true? That would be when I finally decided we are living in The Matrix. ;D

*Interesting, very interesting...
He looks a bit like Tennant's little brother, what with the hair and everything, but still... I quite like the outfit; it's non-contemporary while remaining modernish. The shirt, boots and half-mast trousers look a bit skinhead to me (I wonder if he's got braces on under the jacket?), but the bowtie and jacket give him the look of some sort of period academic; like one of those 1950s atomic scientists or something. He needs a pair of those 50s-style glasses to go with it, like the guy in Heroes wears. They could have slicked the hair down a bit more or trimmed it or something.
Is it just me, or does the TARDIS look suspiciously new and a bit...different? For all I know, though, that's what it always looks like with just the filmstock, lighting etc making it look different in the actual show.*

** No, I agree the TARDIS looks all shiny and new, and they DID say they were changing her about, so it seems a safe assumption, as far as assumptions go. I however am less pleased with his costume. Firstly, i think it is too reminiscent of DT, and secondly the boots do seem to underline his youth. Also, they hair, ee gads they actually left it. See my hair looks like a lighter curly version of that and i call it "an awkward phase" good lord. **

Ooh, I just saw those somewhere else and rushed over here to see if they had been posted.
*I love his costume! I'm so relieved that it's old-fashioned rather than all modern and stylish as I'd feared it might be, and it's still different from any of the other Doctors. The bow-tie is a bit self-consciously old-fashioned, maybe, but I like it. This is relieving me of my doubts about Matt Smith. They just can't get rid of the Converse, can they? This time the companion is wearing it.
And new TARDIS! Although more old than new, judging from the return of the St. John's Ambulance badge on the front from the original TARDIS.*

*Yes, and the roof looks a slightly different shape to me, maybe a little pointier? I think it might be a different, perhaps older model of policebox. When they said they were going to change the look of the TARDIS, I assumed they meant the inside...
And he is indeed wearing braces, I can see from a closer examination of that TARDIS photo. If Eleven ever takes off his jacket and bow tie, he's going to be dressed like some sort of particularly hirsute bovver boy...
And Amy Pond, LOL - now there's a genuine Stephen Moffat character name if ever I heard one!*
BIG, BIG SPOILER - READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL:
*According to another article I read, Alex Kingston, ie River Song is there filming with them. Now, how they reconcile that with the fact that she appeared pretty specifically to recognise TEN in her previous story, I will leave to your imagination...*
