Hello!
I'm Angel. I have been a whovian for about a year or so. I first watched Doctor Who when the first of the revival series aired in the US. The first episode I saw was Boom Town.
My favorite Companion is Donna Noble and as of right now my favorite Doctor is 10, but I also love 4 and 7. But I say my favorite character is the TARDIS. She is always there and always looking out for the Doctor, so yes, I love the TARDIS.
I have been trying to get caught up with classic who knowledge and everything. Doing fairly well I think, though I haven't seen many of the classic episodes. But I'm trying. ;D

Tis the season to be jolly and spend time with the family. It's a little dead at the moment. Never fear, Newton is always online. I'm Newton. I live in Canada, from good old Netherlands, and my passion is traveling. I have no favourite doctor.

Welcome aboard, Angel! You like Seven? Clearly you are somebody of taste and discernment, then; I salute you! ;D
I'm from Liverpool in the United Kingdom, and was an oldschool fan in the 80s (when I was but a wee nipper) and 90s (when I was a layabout student) before NuWho came along. So, I no doubt will bore you with tales of Who stories made before even I was born etc, and engage in curmudgeonly bashing of NuWho from time to time, but know that I mean nothing by it, and I actually do like the new series rather a lot. And Donna was indeed very good in Season Four.
Anyway, this is a very nice little community, full of good people, many of whom seem to have temporarily vanished due to the holiday season, but stick around and I'm sure they will be back soon enough.

Many thanks to you both. It seems like a very close sort of group and very diverse.

Very diverse we are. We age between 13 - 40+, we all have different favourite doctors. Though there are mostly Three and Seven fans. Our members live all over the world. Some have lived in other places. Yes, diverse we are.

Welcome, Angel! Always pleased to meet another fan. A 'classic' fan here, of nearly the same vintage as the show itself - I'm still among the newest here, with the dubious honor of being among the oldest at the same time. I completely and happily agree with your favoring of Four and Seven (both wonderful chaps), and what little I've seen of Donna has all been quite good - looking forward to seeing you jump in with both feet on any and every topic that may spark any interest, the more the merrier. And Merry Christmas, by the way - what better gift could this forum ask for than another fine member in the family?

Greetings Angel, I'm your friendly neighbourhood Clocket, ready to swoop in and do... stuff. As for my vital stats, we have deduced that I live very near to Newton even though we've not met in person. I'm a 20-something uni student studying archaeology (yay! dirt! dead things! yay!) I'm a self-professed Three-fan with Nine and Seven rounding out my top three, though, truth to tell, I like all of the Doctors, even Ten though I do rag on him a fair bit. Nine was my first though (oh, how I wish he'd had more seasons!), and I've never quite forgiven Ten for 'killing' him. (sorry Ten) anyway, 'nuff about me since you'll probably be seeing a lot more of me once the holidays get over. Welcome to the forum and I hope enjoy your time here!

Wow, well hullo there! We've a great site here, no worries about who favour. We make fun of everyone equally, lol, I'm kidding. Anyway, as you can see I am indecisive and I rather fancy well, most of the Doctors; however most likely my current list is topped by either four or ten or perhaps seven or mebbe five. I dunno. *ponders*
I've been wondering what it is about those four that makes them all my fave, looking for similarities and the like. I can clearly see the linkage between seven and ten but the rest have me a bit flummoxed, and I'm babbling, oh well, you ought to be used that from me already *shifty eyes* Companion-wise I like Tegan and Donna roxes my soxes. I like Rose with nine but ten just made her all weak-kneed and useless. Boo! I don't like the useless ones, if you are going to travel time and space with an ancient alien well, put on your big girl panties(knickers) and DEAL darn it! Anyway, so that's my whovianism in a nutshell, or on a soapbox, whichever.

I can clearly see the linkage between seven and ten I'm glad to not be th only one who sees the eerie similarities between them. Both are Scottish (or erm... played by Scots), both do that 'get really intense and ranty' thing, both occilate from playfulness to angst with alarming speed, and both know more than they're telling. They even share each others stories(!) the difference? - Seven had an Ace up his sleeve. though Ten had Donna, who's kind of like a grown up, less explosive Ace... hmmm... now I want fic in which Ace and Donna meet. *looks expectantly at the plotbunnies*

Clocket, you convince me with your comparison of Seven and Ten - although I think Ten also has a bit of Four about him. Kind of the effect you'd get if McCoy and Baker, T both stepped into that teleporting machine from "The Fly" (Ewww!) now I want fic in which Ace and Donna meet. *looks expectantly at the plotbunnies* Hmmm... *strokes chin and looks shiftily from side to side* Hmmm, indeed...

Oh my lord can you imagine the mess? I agree I think ten is most like seven, they both are also always on about the power of a timelord (though wasn't it seven said he was far more than just another timelord or was that another?) now I want fic in which Ace and Donna meet. *looks expectantly at the plotbunnies* Hmmm... *strokes chin and looks shiftily from side to side* Hmmm, indeed...[/quote] oh pretty pretty please!!!!!!

Seven said it first (In Rememberance of the Daleks if I'm not mistaken... oh no Davros, I am far more than just another... yess...)
but I swear that Ten has nicked that line at least once, or at least something similar. At least, starting in the Runaway Bride he started doing Seven-esk speaches of the same sort which I'm not quite sure he has the gravitas to pull off (granted, I'm not even sure Seven completely got away with his speaches, but you've got to love angry Seven)

I simply soak up Seven's marvelous speeches, one of the things I love about him most is his ability to be so incredibly powerful and serious when he needs to.

No, angry Seven is great - he may not have the gravitas or the dramatic firepower all the time (Nevil - Nevil from the dawn of time!), but the eyes, and the anger and the weird speech patterns all combine into something awesome - he really gives the impression of being a character you don't want to mess with, not even if you're Davros.
And Ten does have moments like that - all of this "lonely god", "last of the timelords" stuff seems at times to be almost a conscious riff on the infamous Cartmel Masterplan. The difference is, Ten maybe seems too nice sometimes, too human; his scary moments are still great, but you're expecting him to do the right thing. Seven is a stone cold killer; you can see it in his scary eyes. Don't believe me? Ask the Daleks, or the Cybermen, or Fenric for that matter. Still, his heart(s) was/were basically in the right place, I like to think.

ooh good! *sighs* I was certain it was seven and then was certain I was wrong, as I certain regarding both issues I then became certain i was mad. I jest! But I did think it was seven, and yes, he was (is/will be *sigh timelords) something to see.
I agree his hearts were mostly in the right place, most of the time and I further agree Tennant seems too nice, but remember he(being ten) is seeking redemption, absolution and solace for actions seven had yet to complete (although as JJ's time war series is my canon he knew oh my yes! more reasons to dislike nine and timey-wimeyness).

The Nevil is in my top ten Who moments (well, top 20 at least), right up there with Evil!Brig, the end of Caves, Nine being goofy during his last episode, and that guy who's pants split open during the Nimon episode.
Such are the things which we relish.
JJPOR's Time War series in my personal canon also. Brilliant stuff that.

Hmmm. Jjpor, Time War, I might have to dip my toe in the water.
That Seven line about not being just another Time Lord is from a scene edited out of Remembrance, but which popped up on some documentary/clips show. I actually referred to it in my fanfic, perhaps enjoying the idea that only two people or so would get it.
Hello angeleyes. Now I have that 50s doo-wop song going through my head, unfortunately.
I'm big on Four (my first, but my tastes aren't quite that arbitrary), then Three, then the rest. I joined DW fandom in 1987, my contribution tending to be various drawings and parodies, and an article sometimes.

My equivalent goofy/angry Seven moment has to be the "IF WE FIGHT LIKE ANIMALS, WE'LL DIE LIKE ANIMALS!!!" in Survival - pure magic, and I say that in a completely sincere, non-ironic way. *blushes at fanfic appreciation, but is too self-centred/needy not to love it really* ;D
