I was bored and thought I'd start an off-topic discussion. xD So this is a sort of books, film, music, and general interests thread. So we can learn more about each other. =D
For books I'm fond of historical fiction. And non-fiction relating to the Age of Sail (except pirates). My favourite series would probably be the Bloody Jack Adventures. Yes, nautical historical fiction.
Film... I suppose I should have said TV shows, 'cos I really prefer telly to film. But for film I'd say... Wall-E. xD And The Princess Bride. And... er, that's all I can think of for now.
Telly, I absolutely love The Thin Blue Line. It's second after Doctor Who. Actually, I like everything with Rowan Atkinson Blackadder, Mr Bean, et cetera. I also like Life on Mars, but I think most, if not all, Who fans like that. For American telly (gasp!) I enjoy Psych, Monk, and NCIS.
Music, I quite enjoy Queen and The Beatles. I'm also fond of classical music and sea shanties (the latter due to my love of anything nautical). But Queen is most definitely my favourite band. With The Beatles coming in close second.
How about everyone else?
EDIT: I forgot general interests. xD You all know. Anything nautical. I'm also a rabid Lord Nelson fangirl. Like, seriously.

I really must look up this Life on ars everyone keeps talking about, that and Blackpool. Oh and people keep telling me I'd like Stargate Atlantis.
My problem you see is that I don't *own* a telly.
Anyways, BOOKS! Um, anything really. Currently I'm finishing off Scott Westerfield's Uglies/Pretties/Species series. Actually I'm done the series proper and I'm half way through Extras... yeah..
hmm... I do quite a bit of writing. Mostly fanfic lately (and mostly that because I'm a feedback whore), but also some random short stories... I got something published on in an e-zine a few years back....

Well... I'm a musicain, professionally. I play 15 instrument... which I'll list here and nowhere else. They are as follows... *Pennywhistle *Irish Flute *Standard Guitar *DADGAD Guitar *Mandolin *Mandocello *Irish Tenor Banjo *Piano *Bodrahn (Irish Frame Drum) *Clarinet *English Concertina *Bouzuki *Harmonica *Ukulele *Ocarina More to come. My goal is to learn as many instruments as years I am old. I love classic literature. Homer's "The Odyssey" is high on my list, as is Charles Dickens and Bram Stoker's "Dracula". But I love contemporary works like "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "Illusions", and Frank McCourt's books. Also... George Carlin is to die for. I loved George Carlin. Pity he had to die before he and I were introduced. I love to draw and to sketch. If I can ever figure out this bloody scanner of mine, I'd be more than happy to show some of my drawings to you. I love theatre. I think the best play I was ever in was "Night Chills" which was a compilation of dramatizations of various Edgar Allen Poe tales. But I also enjoyed "Employees Must Wash Hands... BEFORE MURDER" in which I had to portray... Flavaflave. Sorta. A Wangster Flavaflave wannabe is more accurate. (I had to take wangster lessons from my friends. It was dreadful.) I enjoy writing. Especially scriptwriting, screenwriting. That sort of thing. And decorating my room. I love that. Posters come and go. Pictures are put up, cards come down. I recently added a mirror, which is useful for many things. I play chess. I'm an avid chess player, as well as an avid backgammon, pope joan, crazy eights, and scrabble player. I love board games in general. But what I love most probably is entertaining people and making them laugh. I suppose I'm most happy when my friends are happy.

Oh! And my pretty, pretty kitties, who are sadly a 4 hour drive away from where I'm living. But aren't they cute?? I think that's the only picture I've got of them all together. Usually Pebbles is hiding in the basement or being terrorised by Shellfish (who is just jealous of her good looks I swear)

Cute!
Anyway, I love gong on long walks trough the woods and watching insects and plants and such. I spend much of my time studying the behaviors of spiders and their prey, and ant hills. I used to study frog but it is too cold out for them now.
As for books, I am currently reading the Selfish Gene, The Oddessey, A book on female rock and roll ( I forget the title), and Sherlock Holmes. I am also reading many other books but to name them all would be pointless, because I am half way through about 6 series of books that I should be getting back to.
I also play fiddle with Aldy. Although that is not my main interest.
I love building things! Mostly robots (toy cars, and things from kits), however I am good at making other things as well. I make a mess of the kitchen table with all my random parts.
I have a little black schnauzer dog that is unbearably cute, and I think looks like K-9. He follows me every where and hates cats and hamsters. He is the only dog that I know of that actually buries bones.
I also have a pet caterpillar that is in a cocoon currently, and its name is Osmoses. He will become a Cercopia Moth. (if I spelled Cercopia right) He will emerge from his cocoon in the spring. Yay!
I sew and Knit also, thanks to my grandmother. I plan on making a four scarf when I can afford the yarn.
I like to draw and sketch if I have the time, and I have the tendency to hit the CAPSLOCK key when i am in the middle of typing.
Thats me in a nutshell,

Oh, I forgot about Hitchhiker's Guide! I just finished the series. =D
Aldebaran, that is an amazing goal. I wish you luck on your musical challenge.
I'm (sort of) into theatre. Only I'm a techie. -waves hands mysteriously- We do not exist...
Aww, your cats are so adorable, Clocket! I want a cat...

Techies are important too. Couldn't do a show without them. I spend a great deal of time locked up in my room drawing and wishing I was a time-lady... oh! Non-who interests. Right! I love to draw. I'm constantly drawing. My favorite movies would probably be "Sweeney Todd", "Death at a Funeral" and the Evil Dead movies. Aside from Who, I don't watch much TV. Classic cartoons occasionally, but... I don't really. I also have a cookie jar collection. One of life's little oddities, you might say. (And yes, I do own the fabled TARDIS cookie jar, just in case anyone wanted to know.) But my favorite one is probably a jar in the shape of sort of a gangster, and when you open the lid, it says "GETCHO HAND OUTTA MAH COOKIE JAR, FOO!" I could listen to it all day.

But... why would you throw out a collection JUST when it was getting big? That's the whole point of having a collection.

Clocket, you can't get Life on Mars on DVD in Canada. I tried. You are better off downloading it. I use to tech when I was in high school. Those were some good times. I miss it.

It was taking over my room and my dad made me throw it out.( except for the actually valuable stuff.(necklaces and such)) I have a friend who collects bones and his room looks like a catacomb. It is very creepy.

Oh. He's five? I could probably buy his entire collection for a quarter. XD
But I don't like cheating people. Especially little kids. It's mean.

Ooh, I wanted to make one of these ages ago but never got around to it and then forgot. Books: I have a deep love for 19th century books. The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Count of Monte Cristo are my favorite books of all time, but there are a ton I like that would take forever to list. I also like Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, that sort of tongue-in-cheek humorous stuff. And the Lemony Snicket books are made of win. Yes I know they're kids books but that doesn't stop them from being made of win. Film: pretty much anything awesome. It seems like I can never come up with a list, but when given a movie title I can determine whether or not it is awesome. Um. I saw The Court Jester last Friday night which was absolutely hilarious. Music is hard. I don't own much music of my own, because I don't really listen to it all that much (no mp3 player), but the music I do have consists almost entirely of Weird Al, Queen, and classical music. I generally listen to my roommate Rachel's music more than my own, though, because she's constantly playing it and I like her music, which is mostly 80s stuff. I'm a bit of a math geek. You sort of have to be when you're a math/stats major I guess. I'm also a political junkie and have been doing so much volunteer work this year, political-wise, and spending time every day reading the latest political news. Oh, and it may not show on a Doctor Who forum, but I'm a huge tree-hugger/environmentalist/conservationist type person. Which at the moment involves stuff like not owning a car, recycling, and yelling at roommates for not turning off the lights, but I hope to extend that other things once I'm not a poor college student. Clocket, I miss my kitties too. I haven't seen them since mid-August. Also the family chickens. Chickens are so much fun to just sit outside and watch. And they're friendly and soft and don't mind being held (note: this depends on the breed. We have Japanese Bantams and Buff Orpingtons, both bred for their tameness) and lay eggs. Can you tell I love chickens?

Chickens are fun to watch. They also can be Cannibalistic. My mom once thew a little bit of chicken into a chicken pen and they were fighting for it. One chicken had the meat in it's beak and the other ones were chasing it around the yard. I like chickens a lot.

I fear chickens! No, really I do and once someone threw a rooster threw the windshield of my car from their moving car (mine was parked) it was a horrific mess and I shan't discuss it, at the same time I had a homicidal ceiling fan, it was all terribly traumatic, lol.
Interest outside who? Well my kids, they are 5, 4, 3 and 2 next Saturday. And school. Though just at the mo school plagues me.
I'm a psychologist going after my Doctorate in marriage and family therapy. People interest me in a scholastic way, in a real way I have four kids and am a single parent in school so I haven't much time for them sadly (people I mean) but one day I will and then i am certain i will lament that my children have grown.
I love to read, I live to read. I read to live, I am also extremely interested in supernatural sorts of things. ESP, Tarot, numerology, astrology all hobbies of mine.
Basically I'm a HUGE nerd and darn proud of it, let your freak flag fly!
