Oh nothing can compare to the DttDs music... repetitive, annoying, unrelated to anything that's happening onscreen, conveys no mood but just fills time. I get the feeling that if I lost a great number of IQ points, this would be the soundtrack playing in my head all the time. They seem to have brought in some special group, an "orchestra" for wind instruments or something. I wonder why. Dudley Simpson was in the hospital?
The other story with the worst music, I forget, but it may be attack of the Cybermen. With the Pertwee electronic noise, it certainly conveys tension and strangeness. The DttD music conveys nothing at all, except maybe that they thought they were writing for a kiddie show.
This is the last Dalek story before Hinchcliffe came in and reinvigorated the Daleks, though "Genesis" got underway with Letts/Dicks.
