The Horns of Nimon is one of my favorites. I would never show it to someone just getting into old-school and it's certainly no classic but it is a lot of fun. Maybe that's where my resentment lies; people who aren't able to just enjoy the show and laugh at it. I'm not saying the series is incapable of being excellent, and a great drama but let's face it, it's always been a silly show.

I don't laugh at it but with it. Anyway, things I like about Nimons: The force-field tunnel they create to get from the Tardis to the ship... the "power complex" and Romana's ironic comment on it... "Weakling scum!"... "Despicable worm!"... Romana's great bright red riding outfit that she's wearing completely inappropriately... Soldeed: "A black hole on my doorstep...?" Actually, the whole thing is classic. The idea of one planet consuming and discarding others in the stealthy subtle way the Nimons did is very good. Bits I don't like: The Doctor pinning a blue ribbon onto K9... the Doctor "losing" himself in a crowd of about three people.
The spirit of DW is fully there with this story. It's always a jarring disappointment going from this to Leisure Hive, because the Tom era warmth and humor and healthy invigorating sense of chaos just evaporates suddenly.
