I liked the _idea_ of "Love and Monsters", and the story and the actors were all good, it just kind of fell down in the execution, I think. Of course, Tennant's hardly in it, so...
Mind you, he's hardly in "Blink" either, but I still really liked his performance in it.
Another great Tennant acting moment: in "Family of Blood", where he flips back and forth from being John Smith to being the Doctor - great bit of voice acting there.

I love it until the monster pops out. It's just rather annoying. Agreed. A tongue-in-cheek episode really needed a credible villain to weigh it down a little, not a rubbery comedy creature. It was as if they were winking like crazy at us, to let us know it was supposed to be funny. I already knew. RTD crosses the line between mild or subtle absurdity (as in some of the Tom Bakers) into out-and-out self-parody (DW parodying itself, not RTD parodying himself). That line should never be crossed. I love "Love and Monsters". It's very human. I can't think what else to say. It's my favorite from that season, or was I suppose until I worked out some of my problems with New Earth. That season I just don't like much, partly because of irritating elements that distract from the good, human content to be found within those stories. When RTD redoes a "Classic" DW premise, that's a big monkey wrench thrown into things, for me. Most of them I can get more out of with repeated viewings, and they're certainly better than the first few of the next season. I didn't like Tennant till Utopia. I still haven't seen the middle of that season yet, though.

I didn't think "love and monsters" was THAT bad. I mean, the ending was a little bogus, but until that point... it was ok.

I've been on a bit of a Four kick this week, and I was struck the other day by the similarities between Tennant's and Baker's performances. I was watching "City of Death", and some of the lines and the way Tom delivered them just really reminded me of Ten for some reason. Funny, but I'd never noticed this before.

Ten and Four ARE alike... it's just Ten seems a bit higher-strung, and Four is always mellow about everything.

If Four had been the Master, and they'd both been dancing around acting the same... awesomeness. Well, it's never going to happen. But in my head. Awesomeness.

I could do very bad and adult things to DT. >:3 *rubs palms together, then tents fingers* Excellent.... Good one...! (I think I'm not supposed to say "LOL" here.) Of course, in a Whovian context, the only delivery for "Excellent!" that I can imagine is that of the Cyber Leader. Occasionally I've done a brief impression of Mr. Burns saying it alternating with the Cyber Leader saying it. As if I didn't have enough methods for alienating people already.... My first and only thought upon seeing Ten appear in Xmas Invasion was: well, they've gone and gotten themselves a young Four surrogate!

I like my who-porn shut away in a box and buried and never discussed, thank you very much. But you go ahead. Enjoy yourself. Just don't do anything the mighty admin wouldn't stamp.

Quite, the mighty admin have semi-strict rules about this sort of thing... i.e. random photos of Seventies Porn Colin are allowed, actual porn is not. The same rule applies to written content. that said... DT? Sorry, but his nose is just funny.

Hey! I'm not the only one. Besides my husband has a funny nose, too, so I find it rather endearing. XD And, don't worry, I'll keep it clean. PG-13 at the worst.

i.e. random photos of Seventies Porn Colin are allowed, actual porn is not. Not that we actually _condone_ Seventies Porn Colin, or indeed Random Porn McCoy, or whatever that link was, because they are kinda scary and disturbing Luckily, I have a plentiful supply of BrainBleach!(TM) laid in for just those sort of eventualities...
