OK, obviously there are a lot of old rec posts and things buried under the fanfiction tab, but I feel the need to start a fresh one- Hence adding a year.
More importantly in fact, I feel the need to share some awesome fic!
Anyone who would like to contribute some recs is also welcome.
In fact if you're looking for some good fics in a particular vein, fell free to ask. As some of you may be aware, fanfiction has been a major hobby of mine for the last few years. I'm certain either I or another obliging DbyA'er will be able to set you on the right track.
I think my focus with this will be on newer fics that perhaps people who have lives aren't following every forum and archive might not have seen yet. But in general anything you find that makes you exclaim and of the following to yourself: -Wow -Awesome -That was really good -Yowza -An excellent point -Ha! I knew I wasn't the only one who was thinking that -I could read this all day -Awwwww -Y'know who would like this... -Etc.
All summer I keep reading new fics and thinking "Wow that was awesome, I should share that with someone!" and then no one around here is remotely interested in that sort of thing so I just sort of add it to my favorites and move on. But no more! Now I shall torment you all with my exuberant posts via this thread! *Cackles Evily*

First post! For those of you familiar with The Bookkeeper's work on Teaspoon or Bookkeeperthe as he's/she's known of FF.net, you know that they're a wonderful writer for several fandoms, especially DW and you may already be subscribed to their stories. For those of you who haven't heard of The Bookkeeper you should totally check out their work: www.fanfiction.net/u/1540402/BookkeeperTheIn any case, I love all her work, but here's her most recent fic Fair Warning www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=47444Author's Summary: Sometimes Rory thinks that the Doctor should come with a warning label. Danger: volatile. Do not shake, heat, or underestimate. A short and pointed story that makes you nod solemnly in agreement and really makes you imagine what probably happened next, because as Rory observes about the Doctor here, "... pitting him against anything less than a fully-fledged army is like bringing an atomic bomb to a fist fight." Enjoy!

So for the start of a weekend that promises a lot of running (through Paris!) I'm thinking this one. Slide www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=47469 by Galifreyanheart on Teaspoon. Author's Summary: Rose and TenToo start their journey together and it isn't always perfect but they're good together. It's a RoseXTenII fic (or as the typo in the summary says, TenToo. ). Twenty-one and a half hundred words plus change. Sort of a massive dabble that numbers the days after Journey's End. I'm not normally bit on TenII fics in general, especially ones like these, but this one I like quite a bit. I think it does a good job of being more realistic then 'they lived happily ever after because everything was exactly the same' but it also doesn't drag on and depress the crap out of me about them adjusting to normal(ish) life and TenII freaking out about being human.

I've actually read some the The Bookkeeper's stuff. My favorite, though I like the one you posted, is a crossover with Criminal Minds called Universal Constants. I don't know if it's on Teaspoon, but it is definitely on ff, where I found it. Here's the URL if anyone's interested. www.fanfiction.net/s/7428920/1/bUniversal_b_bConstants_b

Oh, yeah, that's one of my favorites too! I don't watch Criminal Minds but I read a lot of crossovers with series I don't watch. I always love crossovers of my fantasy and sci fi fandoms with random csi type shows. It sort of shows them against reality, and I always love the reactions the various analytically minded csi type characters have to the illogic of it all.

For those who think Five is fluffy, know that he and the Master are SO an estranged couple, and are up for a fic so sweet it'll make you're teeth hurt, here's a series that'll have you cooing over it like an obnoxious dove. I've mentioned TARDIScrash's work here before, and many of you are aware of it one way or another, but for five and/or Ainley!Master fans, here work it'd be a crime to miss. TARDIScrash on Teaspoon: www.whofic.com/viewuser.php?uid=14032She also has done a number of adorable pieces to accompany the stories which can be found on her DeviantART (under the name rainwhiteheart) here: rainwhitehart.deviantart.com/Although, now that I look, I think she tends to update the actual stories more on her livejournal here: tardiscrash.livejournal.com/tag/five!bot All that and her journal header say these two lines at the top: "Lord High President of the dancefloor" "I haven't squeed this much since Adric died! " What more does one need in life?

So, what sort of fic are you allowed to rec? Rating-wise and stuff I mean.

Whatever you want. Obviously you should probably mention if it has a higher rating...

I generally only read crossovers with shows I watch. If I get annoyed because there are lots of crossovers with a show I don't watch, I look it up online and watch it. Actually, that's how I got into Doctor Who.

I read a crossover with Doctor Who and Torchwood years ago actually when I was into Yu-Gi-Oh and it wasn't until I'd watched about two seasons of Torchwood and all of NuWho that I recognized it. I find it fun sometimes to not know anything about the other series. If it's a well written story, usually it explains itself quite well. It's more of a game to keep up, just like reading a new novel or something. Which leads me to today's rec... Actually another one for an author in general and Two fantastic series! The first being a crossover series of Buffy The Vampire Slayer X Doctor Who. Read by me who doesn't watch Buffy and written by the talented and diligent Secooper87 who coincidentally doesn't watch it either. She has woven an elaborate and surprisingly seamless plot of the Doctor and Buffy's adventures together woven River Song-esque (in a good way) back to front over multiple regenerations. Apparently her sister is a massive Buffy fan so through heavy use of Wikipeda (a writer's greatest friend other than spell check) and help from her, Secooper87 has managed to represent all the characters wonderfully against all odds. Her second series which I actually read first, is a series of three crossover stories with the Tenth Doctor and CSI Las Vegas. By the end she manages to twist cause and effect together dazzlingly, and throughout she writes lovely mysteries that tug at your heart strings for the Doctor. I've read those stories up to the fifth chapter of Nothing. I never even knew she hadn't seen BtVS until two seconds ago when I read your post, haha.

Another good way to find recs (other than Calufrax and similar rec community things) is to rummage around in the favorites of people who you know have good taste in their choices - like the other members of DbyA, for instance. ;-)

Yeah, one of my personal favorite methods. I rummage pretty much everyone's work and favorites after I read one of their stories. I have discovered many disturbing things about the ratio of seemingly reasonable Avatar the Last Airbender fans that are also Twilight fans though...

OK, I haven't posted on here for a couple of days, and I'd been mulling over recing a couple of recent fics, but then I ran across a link to this one again, and went all wibbly over it. In Which Time Lords are not Cats eleventy-kink.livejournal.com/942.html?thread=2490798#t2490798Written anomalously on the Eleven-Era Kink Meme. It's a part of the Kink Meme obviously, but the fic is actually strictly PG, and the link I just posted goes to the specific prompt thread, so it's pretty clean. Basically a fic featuring Eleven snuggling with (or more on top or really) Craig, with a repeating refrain that resolves that has been described by at least one review as "like snuggling up with a warm blanket and cookies while a kitten does something adorable." I re-read this brief story about once a month because I love it, and it breaks my heart every time.

This thread seems to have died....so I'll recommend a fic to bring it back to life, because I'm absolutely bored and spend way too much time reading fanfiction. www.fanfiction.net/s/7150271/1/It's called Eleven, by WuHaoNi. Author's summary: In which the Doctor really is a madman with a box. AU. That, I think is pretty self-explanatory....anyway, it's really good, but, I'll warn you, pretty sad in parts. Also, it's just a oneshot.

Yeah, I'd rather forgotten about this... That's a good one Cadet! In response I give you another slightly sad AU fic with Eleven and company: In A Crooked Little House (or Aren't We All) by honeynoir www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=45705Summary: Once upon a time, there was a Girl, and she lived in an enchanted forest. I love fairytale AU's in general and this is a twisting twining one that mixes all kinds of archetypes and tells several tales at once if you take the time to untangle them all. Read leisurely with cocoa while in a thoughtful mood. My favorite bit is is the scene where Rory meets the Doctor, with it's little observations that paint a worrying picture for the poor old man.

Ummm... This fic because I like it and I was looking for it today. "Choices" www.fanfiction.net/s/7880007/1/ by Wannabe Darklord Author's Summary: The Master plays a game with the Doctor and Jack. Rec: A short "Year That Never Was" fic, this one's not terribly dark or any angstier than any other YTNW type fic. As the summary says, it's just one of many twisted games the master might have passed the year with. but without the squick most fics like this end up with. Doctor Whump in the form of a mind-wiped panicky Doctor, and Jack on good form being resourceful and protective of the Doctor, without ending up as slash or any kind of romance really. Good fic if you're looking for a quick bite of Year that Never Was flavor but without the squick most fics like this end up with.

"Time With Mother" www.fanfiction.net/s/8026722/1/Time-With-Mother by reddwarfaddict. Author's Summary: The newly regenerated 10th Doctor finds himself trapped and injured with Jackie in the stairwell of a shopping center on Boxing Day, where they find they've got a little more to talk about than the sales. Maybe Jackie doesn't come at face value. DocWhump Rec: A Boxing day (immediately post Christmas Invasion) story with plenty of Doctor whump (look it even says it in the summary). Jackie and the Doctor actually talk like people and stuff, and he fesses up about how he ended up with his shiny new face. We get a little slice of post regeneration considerations (namely of the sandwich preference variety) and Jackie gets to do a bit of mothering. Also, there's a bit of suspense and action in the middle there, which isn't half bad, really.
