I guess I'm missing something here. It doesn't seem to go anywhere.
Is this an "in-joke" or something?

Nah, it's just cake.
On Ten.
Who happens to be naked.
And chained to Three.
Who is not naked.
But is covered in cake.
Probably due to the Master.
Just business as usual...
(there was a typo a few years ago and it somehow turned into a joke which turned into a fic which turned into a fic genre which has gone beyond the forum. It's fun to keep track of them as they pop up.)

I kind of want to see cake fics with other doctors in them, as much fun as they are with three and ten...

For you Kirk, the typo in all its embarrassing glory:
... because that's a perfectly reasonable use for cake. ;D

It still seems strange to me that I managed to contribute to this. It's pretty long too, that story, for me anyway! It makes me thing the drabble business isn't such a bad idea. Where do I go to be given arbitrary instructions on something to write?

I thought it was a good one, Magnus. And you know, you were part of History! Or something along those lines.

I thought it was a good one, Magnus. And you know, you were part of History! Or something along those lines. Thanks jjpor. When posting that, I wondered if I was subconsciously fishing for a compliment... hope not. Yours was good too jjpor, and the overall quality level of everyone's was quite high, considering no one but us would understand them!

I didn't think you were, Magnus, but I just too the opportunity to voice my liking of your story. And thank you very much, as well. I agree - the overall standard of the cakefic period remained high throughout, very much to the credit of DbyA and all who sail in her.

I suppose I have to go join some other board, too, to do these drabbles. That's where many people write to the same specifications, right? I'm hesitant to join other boards these days.

I suppose I have to go join some other board, too, to do these drabbles. That's where many people write to the same specifications, right? I'm hesitant to join other boards these days. 'Drabble' is usually taken to be a story which is exactly 100 words long (though some use it interchangeably with 'ficlet' for a story that's short, but not constrained to an exact limit). For example, the fics I wrote for Pairing vs Pairing were all drabbles except for two, which were double-drabbles (200 words). If you want to be told what to write, there's lostspook's Livejournal community, dw_straybunnies, which has a monthly prompt to write against.
