www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8UjxOCG4WII think it's just clips out of one of those longer drama montages, but it's still the most we've seen (well, other than that thing with the hand and the screwdiver and the utter lack of dialogue, but that was rubbish wasn't it?) So... * Amy is dressed up all mighty warrior and is double sword-fighting with what appear to be robots. (Obviously Rory is doing something similar just off-screen. Obviously.)
* A terrified looking Eleven is being pulled backwards by some random people and a REALLY creepy doll thing.
* Eleven is about to kiss Craig for some reason (huh wut lol?)
* Creepy puppet
* OMG IS THAT A NIMON?!?! (NIMON LOVE! NIMONS ARE FOREVER!) if that is not a Nimon I will be well and truly disappointed
* More creepy puppets.
* The Doctor is kissing Craig while doing something which I am sure is plot relevant with his screwdriver. Ahem. Get your minds out of the gutter So, uh, discuss?

(Hopefully I'm doing the whited-out-spoliery-stuff right...)
My question is (and it's one that's plagued me for most of the past six years) why is the new series always so desperate to make the Doctor kiss just about every other character he meets, usually in some contrived oh-well-he-had-no-choice situation?

On word, fan-service... Probably... no, definitely.
It's one of those human, but alien things they can have him do... to make him seem more alien, yet more human at the same time. Do you know what I mean?

Excellent question, Roranicus. One I've pondered from time to time too. Hmm * Well, at least Hitler wasn't in it, eh?
Clocket, I'd like to think that Amy and Rory were doing a full-on back-to-back last stand type deal against hordes of whatever those white things were (winning in the end, obviously), but I suspect it'll be some sort of throwaway moment as all of these things they show in trailers seem to end up being.
I'd dearly love it to be a Nimon too, just for the crack. I know it's probably more likely to turn out to be some sort of generic knock-off minotaur thing, but we can dream, right? To be fair, it does look a bit unpleasant, doesn't it? Is that in the Mark Gatiss one? I know the creepy dolls are, but is the creepy hotel rooms thing that one too? I'm sure he's got to roll a "six" on one of his NuWho scripts sooner or later - you know, law of averages and all that...
I think the Doctor/Craig thing, while they make a cute couple, is more likely to be something similar to the head-butt thing they did in The Lodger, some sort of Time Lord psychic whammy thing. Or maybe, considering the revelations in A Good Man Goes To War, the Doctor's decided he'd better stay away from River and find somebody more suitable to have a relationship with. *

Here we are - no ish about these ones. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xkQkPo7KRU&feature=player_embeddedwww.youtube.com/watch?v=zfl7q-bJYJg&feature=player_embeddedBeware SPOILERS, as ever. And apparently we have it from the boy Smith's own mouth that Season 6b or whatever we're calling it kicks off on August 27, so sooner than I thought, really. Here's hoping Moffat pulls something out of the hat, eh? I'm actually feeling a bit better about it than I was, mainly due to that second clip - that story looks like a good'un at least. * Who's that playing Hitler? Nobody I know, but I was thinking watching this that had that story been made in the 70s the late, great Michael Sheard would have been a shoe-in...*

* I was waiting for him to say what the name was...but alas... But yes, that's what I thought. ;D
Did you see River with the same eyepatch as Eyepatch Lady? And some chess-playing...thing also with the same eyepatch? Very odd. I'm sort of wondering what that whole swordfighting Amy thing is about too, now, having seen a bit more of that.
And Eleven and co apparently aren't actually killing Hitler but saving him. Er...so that's alright, then...? *

*Obviously the twist at the end of the series will involve the Eyepatch Lady turning around and seeing them all wearing eyepatches.
Aaanyway. Trailer looks very exciting. I would really like the monster to be a Nimon, but I'm not totally confident. Even with the "praise him" bit. I just don't want to be disappointed if it isn't...
I expect many gifs made of Rory punching Hitler.*

*Hehe - yes! ;D
Yes, you're right - best to keep a lid on those sorts of expectations to avoid disappointment later. But even if he isn't a Nimon, it looks like a pretty intriguing story.
And you know those .gifs are probably being posted somewhere or other as we speak...*

Woohoo! This looks exciting. I actually don't have any more meaningful comment than that to say, really, but I'm looking forward to the new episodes anyway. The August 27 starting date is nice too, sooner than I expected! * Also your predictions are quite true, I've come across a number of Hitler-punching gifs already. You could probably watch the entire new series in gifs by now, I imagine...

Why do I suddenly have ton's of things to do with the start of August? Why can the start of show's I like not be more spaced out? DX I haven't really had anything to look forward to all summer, and now DW's starting up at an inopportune time for me, and Sherlock won't start til September, when I'll be starting school. Oh, yeah, and then there's Torchwood, which I am being nagged to watch, apparently it's awesome. This looks interesting though, I'm mostly just grumpy because I have to get up at 7 for pre-band camp - camp tomorrow.

I thought the gap was going to be bigger too, with the second half starting sometime later in September...but what do I know? I'm already behind on Torchwood - got to make time to watch episode 2 sometime this week... * I wonder why Rory's punching Hitler? I mean, you know, apart from all the obvious reasons why you'd want to. Maybe he just decided he'd take the opportunity while he was there. Good man - Rory. Good man. *

Oh for... Some one on Tumblr got an interesting clip of the Doctor looking into the TARDIS view screen, and the name of the lake the Doctor "dies" by ("dies" because there's another season and I sincerely hope that the Moff won't keep the fake-out running that long) - the lake's name is Silencio.
Hrm... I wonders if there could be a plot point there? Especially with the underwater Silent bit in the trailer and all?
I think you're on to something with the chess-playing JJ. I made a screencap of that bit: i143.photobucket.com/albums/r151/classrule/Untitled.png and yep, definitely something suspicious going on there. Eye patch trolls playing chess in Who...
Eleven's really copying his rhyming predecessor innit he?*

Lol, I just finished reading "Alien Bodies" of the EDA's and there's a running theme in there about the Doctor playing chess. Apparently Eight doesn't really 'get' chess.... There's a very cute scene near the beginning about it. Apparently some of the pieces get new rules, and some of them can move through space and time on alternating turns or something... XD Definitely as weird a book as it is purported to be, but has some very cute moments, and some very unoriginal puns, at almost every scene change...

I like Alien Bodies a great deal, as I may have mentioned from time to time. It's different, anyway, isn't it? Making up his own rules as he goes along seems very Doctor-like if you ask me... * Yeah, I saw the Lake Silencio thing, Clocket, and...yeah... Bit too on the nose for my liking, but there you go. I have absolutely no idea what's going on with the trolls or the eyepatches, but it looks intriguing doesn't it?
Thinking about Nimons or non-Nimons - that story is called The God Complex, I believe. Well, Lord Nimon (and his buddies) lived in a Power Complex, didn't they? Romana considered that the name was very apt. It's an extremely tenuous connection, I know, but we can keep the faith for a little longer, right? Right?!* This, which I saw linked from Livejournal, amused me more than it should have (warning: could well be SPOILERY), but mainly from the crackiness of the original image it has been Photoshopped onto: doctoroddfellow.tumblr.com/post/8065499301

Well, I suppose it means Moffat has good taste in EDAs. Unless he read all of them looking for ideas... Typical. No originality left? Hitler! Yeah...all those times * the Doctor's faced off against Hitler...! Although, thinking on and relating to johne's point, he actually did in one of the NA novels. Hmm, I'm starting to see a pattern here... ;D
Only kidding, really. I know what you mean. And there's probably a good reason why old who didn't touch WW2 with a bargepole. Well, apart from Curse of Fenric, but even in that the Nazis were mentioned but not actually featured in the story.
Huh, what's next? Winston Churchill showing up as some sort of pseudo companion for a week...?
Oh...wait... *

What goes on in Moffats head Hm... I can't seem to think of any new monsters, I'll just use the three monsters I HAVE thought of for the 8th time! What is that? A returning character that really has no business to return? Oh fun! I love milking them characters that were perfectly fine in their one episode. Now allow me to quickly make some poo poo story, don't forget to have the Doctor say something cool and BAM I just made a good few thousand dollars for doing poo poo all. I am a genius. *sits in his pool of money* ... stupid fan girls. The second link JJ gave just made me think of Bioshock the whole time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lmw78t8NgIEThe second half don't bother watching... but the first half.... yes... gave me that vibe.
