Clocket, maybe it says a lot about me, but it seems to me that if I had the sort of demi-god like powers you hint at above, I would not exercise them with anything like your wisdom and self-restraint. Just think of the possibilities... ;D

Yes, what sad ends for all of the Doctor's beautiful escort girls, especially Jamie. Indeed. He was the most beautiful escort girl of them all. ;D The idea that he met a sticky end after the Time Lords returned him to Scotland is certainly highly plausible, considering the situation there at the time and the ruthlessness with which the surviving Jacobite rebels were put down. Which isn't a very nice thought. I like the idea I've seen in some fics that he somehow evaded the reprisals and ended up emigrating to the Americas as so many displaced Highlanders did. Maybe some of our Canadian or US members are his descendants? ;D johne - That is quite a few, isn't it? Some of them obviously disappeared without trace as far as the people in their own times/locations were concerned - some of them are probably recorded as "incidents" in the various conspiracy theories surrounding the Doctor (if these exist - from "Rose" at the beginning of S1, it is strongly implied that they do). Dodo, for instance, could have chapters devoted to her in those "Mysteries of the Unexplained" type books.

Which isn't a very nice thought. If you're inclined to trust the Time Lords (which... isn't a good survival strategy, as a rule ;D) they assure the Doctor that (a) they won't let 'innocent lives' (meaning Jamie and Zoƫ) be endangered, and (b) they will 'live out their lives as if nothing had happened'. So Jamie ought to escape, reunite with Kirsty, and live happily ever after. But maybe, from their point of view, the correct end of Jamie's life is a few hours or days away. (Of course, as well as the fanfics there are various expanded universe works giving more-or-less happy fates for him). The Doctor did make an attempt to remove information about himself later in that season, IIRC, but it obviously didn't stick -- especially after he upset Queen Victoria so badly she set up an organisation dedicated to ruthlessly hunting him down sitting about on their backsides in a fancy office waiting for him to drop by. Whether there will still be rumours and conspiracy theories about the Doctor after the conclusion of the current season... that depends on just how the Moff plans to deal with the question of the Doctor's reputation.

I have nothing of import to share. I just wanted to express how happy I am that this thread still exists.
That is all.

Yes, I like how we are now using This thread to talk on, considering it's dubious origin... Perhaps we should leave guest posting on it it leads to this much fun! XD

If you're inclined to trust the Time Lords Yeah, I'm, er...not, particularly. ;D As you say, their idea of the proper course of events could be Jamie stopping a musket ball, history taking its natural course etc. But I cling to my optimistic notions, anyway. Of course, you raise a good point regarding Torchwood. I'm pretty certain they did indeed spend more time sitting around drinking tea and/or using stolen alien tech for fun and profit than they ever did hunting the Doctor, but some of those conspiracy theories (things like him being involved in the Kennedy assassination, as seen in Rose and that very strange spin off from the New Adventures) could well be disinformation put about by TW for their own purposes. At least before Mickey wiped out the whole internet or whatever he did. Yes, I'd forgotten he did that...
