I actually surprised myself and liked it. I thought it would go by really slow in the same setting and all, but it went fairly quickly for me. I wish there could have been more Donna, though.
Emo kid for companion!

Haven't seen it. From the pre view I was hoping for The Doctor to start screaming and/or talking about snakes.

It actually wasn't on a plane, but some sort of other tour/travel vehicle thing. Or something. But yes, it did look very much like that. xD

I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say..I didn't like it that much. It started off well then I kinda got bored of all the talking. Liked Jethro though
His reactions and comments would be siilar to mine in that situation....he probably watches a lot of TV
btw. anyone spot rose on one of the monitors?
and just a point..but on timelord (another DW forum) a group of us have been writing a series....and after watching the next time trailer I'm sure they're copying us. lol!

...yeah Jethro, Dee, and the hostess were cool, I hated Jethro's parents and professor Hobbes...

You were supposed to, I believe. Or at least dislike them.

Okay, RTD is now doing crack. He gets rid of Donna for the best part of an episode; he thinks that people who watch modern television will be interested by one set the entire time; and just WTF?
I think it's clear I was not a fan of this episode. Very AIDSy. I did like Jethro, he was pretty awesome, and Dee was okay when she wasn't trying to kill people. The hostess was annoying up to the point where she killed herself.
The Rose thing was like, zOMGWTF? Nobody else does that, only RTD. It bothered me, especially because I was looking for her whenever a TV was onscreen after that.

My least favourite episode of Series 4 was Midnight. It can't get any lower than this.

You'd think so, but you'd be wrong. The last three episode are RTD.

I don't get the backlash. I actually LIKED this episode, immensely. I think it might be my favourite. It's very classic who with the one set and the enemy you can't see. It's one of the few recent stories that's actually sent shivers down my spine, and even with all the talking things moved along at a good pace and stayed interesting. It made for a nice break from all the annoying CGI explosions and angst. The characters were well played and I could see their motivation. The villian was suitably creepy. My only quiffs are that Jethro was clearly in his twenties and Rose.
My room mate (who also loved this episode) and I both started shouting "GO AWAY ROSE!" when she popped up.
And it would have been nice to see more of Donna, but even so...
Okay, so it was sort of like the cliched fanfic where the Doctor and Companion go on a vacation, get seperated, and bad stuff happens, and there were some flaws, and it would have been nice to know what the villian was, but -
Overall, atmosphere and acting-wise at least: amazing.
And did anyone else catch Patrick Troughton's son as Professor Hobbes? I didn't, and did a double-take when my room mate told me. He's so tall! But you can see it when you look...

I finally saw this today, and I liked it too. I wished at first that there could have been more Donna (with only four episodes left, not using her in one of them made me sad), but the whole thing worked the way it did because of the fact that she was gone. The Doctor had no one to turn to or to defend him, and that for me what what made it so frightening; he had spent the last few hours chatting with all these generally pleasant people that and then once the people get scared enough, they turn on him one by one. Even Jethro, who seemed to be the most reasonable of them. It was very Twilight Zone-ish.
The acting by the possessed blonde woman and DT was pretty amazing, too.

It seemed to resemble "Monsters are Due On Maple Street" (famous Twilight Zone episode) a little to me and my dad, but maybe that's just us.

I think Midnight would have ben scarier if they set it in the london underground...trapped in one of those carridges with something out there..or is it in the carridge?

Oooo, you're right. That would have been that much more creepy, because then the creature would have been on Earth, and still out there. 'Course, in that case, the Doctor would have had to have actually figured out what it was and gone after it, and there wasn't enough time in the one episode for that. Two-parter maybe?
And then more Donna in the second part... that would have been awesomeness.
That all said, Midnight as it stand was awesomeness, and I don't want to put my grubby fingers on it for fear of mucking it all up.

Midnight was poopy. That said, I also think it would have been better on Earth. 1) Donna would have been with the Doctor, not in some spa . There aren't many spas in the greater London area. 2) We would have had some closure in that the Doctor would have had to have destoryed/relocated whatever the thing was.
