Given that Steven Moffat is writing so much of both series, do you think a cross-over is possible?

Sherlock is a frictional character.... unless he writes something like the Doctor gets stuck in a book, I doubt it. I hope it doesn't happen.

Yes, but the Doctor also met Gulliver from Gulliver's Travels at one point... and the series has done some serious homages to the Baker Street detective in the past. I could see it happening.
Of course, then I would be upset because I want Benedict Cumberbatch to play the next Master. It would be brilliant. BRILLIANT I tells ye.

Well there is also the Land of Fiction from the Mind Robber. Though in that one Jamie and Zoe got stuck in a book, not the Doctor

And in one of the New Adventures novels, Seven and crew met the "real" Holmes and Watson. It wasn't very good, though - I don't think you have to diss Holmes to make the Doctor look more awesome, which was sort of the route it went down...
There was something like that, wasn't there, about Cumberbatch being a potential Eleven or maybe even a potential Twelve, but I'm not sure how much of it was just tabloid paper talk. I agree with Clocket, he'd make a decent Master. He'd just need the Beard of Evil (of course!).

There have been some very interesting photo manipulations to the end of this crossover, and at least one really well spliced together trailer video called "a study in time", which you can find on youtube. I'll try to remember to show it to you this weekend, if you see this before then.
I have read on interesting story that was written, not as a crossover with Sherlock, but as one with the classic Sherlock Holmes cannon. It was an interesting piece, but you'll have to work your way through five years of David Tennant as the 10th Doctor before you'd understand what they're getting at in most of it. On that note, you should start watching season 1 from 2005 with Christopher Eccleston, where "New-Who" began. (Also on my blue hard drive.)

But the Beard of Evil would have made him more awesome! ;D
I can prove this scientifically, with charts and diagrams and stuff...gimme a minute...

I can't seem to link, but kirkg, matt smith auditioned for Watson but was declined for being too 'crazy' and shortly afterwards was cast for 11. And yes, I agree Wholock! Wholock all the way! John Simm would have been better with the Beard of Evil...

I'm not sure Simm could have pulled off the evil beard of evil...

Interestingly, on this very subject, the Xmas special article I link to in the other thread has this from Moffat:
"Those hoping for a glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock, however, will be disappointed. He will never share a screen with the Timelord, said Moffat.
"The doctor would just be furious because there would be someone else clever and tall in the room, and that's his job," said Steven Moffat. "Can you imagine it? They'd just stand there and sulk at each other.""
So, that's that, then. Of course, Moffat. Always. Lies...

"Can you imagine it? They'd just stand there and sulk at each other." So true... But wouldn't I still just be fantastic?
