Hi there. I am friends with some of you folks over on LJ, and clocketpatch pointed out this forum on her "30 Days of Who" meme, so I decided to check it out. :D I'm a math/stats nerd, costuming nerd, hockey fan, giant Doctor Who fan (of course). I live in the eastern US. I sometimes write fic. I love all the Doctors, though I've not watched a lot of old school Who, I have listened to an awful lot of Big Finish audios (72-mile round trip commute, daily. I was going through one a day for a while until I caught up!). Anyway, *waves*, hello!
(If you see me spending too much time here, give me a kick and tell me to go work on my dissertation)

Hullo again, Eve11. I suppose you know me already. ;D
Welcome to the DbyA. Feel free to poke around and post where you please. Even if it seems like it's been a long time since the last post, regenerating old threads is very much encouraged. I find that the best way to get caught up is clicking on the 50 most recent button in the forum stats box.

Welcome! I hope you'll have fun and enjoy yourself here - there's a pretty relaxed atmosphere most of the time, and we have a very broad and varied selection of preferences and opinions, Who-wise. We tend to be a bit silly and frivolous most of the time, but that's all to the good, I think. You will quickly become familiar with such topics as cake, habits and Seventies Pr0n Colin, I'm sure! ;D

Hiya, Eve11, your name seems really rather familiar so I'm certain I've bumped into you somewhere, likely LJ, which absolutely flummoxes me, sadly (LJ not having bumped into ye in cyberspace). At any rate, I'm Merry and it's nice to meet you. We've a nice place here, a friendly community and we're glad to have you, can't wait to see you about the forums!

Hi Merry, nice to meet you too! I've been around LJ for a while and have written some fics and hang out on crafty_tardis and dw_cosplay; we may have run into each other at some point Your name sounds familiar too, though my friend Mary (auntiemeesh on LJ) is the LOtR fan moreso than I.

Greetings! Nice to meet you. Where about's in the eastern US are you, if you feel comfortable saying? Just curious. I'm in New York, myself, but obviously it's a pretty wide range. I'm also a Big Finish fan, and it's nice to see some more around here. If you want to be more familiar with old-school Who (or'y'know, just have fun) do check out our weekly Doctor Who viewings. More on that in the Announcements forum, although as of today I haven't put up this week's schedule yet.
Now go and work on your dissertation! But be sure to come back after that.

I am in Southwestern PA Will definitely check out the viewing parties; if I can get my hands on an ep I'll give it a watch Working on the dissertation today, yes! Coding Reversible Jump MCMC, first an example from a paper, then adapting to requirements from my own models. Should be... fun?

I think I already greeted you in the other thread, but HULLO nonetheless. I think you'll find we're a fun, mature (well, in some ways ...) group with a great love of Doctor Who for the show itself. The watching parties don't require you to have the episode in question; it's streamed from the livestream website where, primarily, IMForeman graciously uploads them for our viewing pleasure. it begins every Saturday at 9pm your time, and it's a blast!
