Liked what McCoy did there - like Clocket says, he's playing it for laughs but at the end there you get a glimpse of how he'd play it if he was doing it for real as Seven - understated menace. Brrr. I have to agree with Kirk, though, that that's not even one of Eleven's good speeches - he's had many better ones, imo. I like the way McCoy laughs at himself, and indeed the moderator's, quite frankly, misguided assessment of the Seven era too. According to the live special, Peter Capaldi prepared for his audition by downloading 'some old scripts' and reading them as the Doctor. I wonder which ones they were.

I wondered that too and whether it might shed any light on how he is going to play the Doctor, although I'm sure it'd be probably be easy to read a lot of unsupported inferences into something like that.
