Have you seen this article on the BBC Website? ?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/04_april/19/sj_adventures.shtmlI know fans of the third Doctor will be over-the-hill about it. Not only is SJA returning for another season, BUT there's a special story coming up that involves *** Sarah Jane, Jo Grant, and the Eleventh Doctor... written by RTD.
I think this would be a triple shocker for DW fans. Not only is there more goodies for SJA... not only is another Doctor going to be guest appearing, BUT the story he's in will be written by RTD and includes the return of Jo Grant!*** I'm gob-smacked, personally. I'm a mixture of shocked, excited, and terrified. What do you all think? Any hopes? Anything you've heard about it?

Have you seen this article on the BBC Website? ?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D *Boggle* I think my reaction is going to depend on how it's handled. If we end up being told that ] Jo has not spent the intervening years being fabulous and resourceful and having amazing adventures[, I shall not be best pleased Personally, I'd like to see ] Jamie and Zoe show up at the controls of a SIDRAT[, but that's just my usual monomania showing ;D

* Yes, as johne says, this sort of thing is a double-edged sword - awesome concept on paper, but it all comes down to the execution... I fear what RTD could do to Jo (although she definitely, definitely left the Doctor of her own free will, head turned by long-haired pinko Welsh environmentalists, so he can't go down the same route he went down with Sarah. And he'd better not try!)
All in all, though, I'm just happy for more SJA - I can't get enough of it, dodgy celebrity guest stars and cheap effects notwithstanding. Reminds me strongly of JNT-era Who... ;D
So, we have Eleven but no Amy? Does this mean the coming episodes do not bode well for La Pond?? *

So, we have Eleven but no Amy? Does this mean the coming episodes do not bode well for La Pond?? * Well, JJ, actually, we don't know yet when this takes place in terms of series 5. It could be before he came back and picked up Amy or it could be that he drops her off for a bit and picks her back up afterwards. I suppose it depends on whether she gets married and what the great series finale villian is.

*Yes, I suppose he could have popped in to visit Sarah when he was on his two year/five minute "trip to the moon" ;D*

I know! I know! I've had this big stupid cheshire cat grin most of the day because of this news - now I just have to hope the script isn't a piece of rubbish (you never know with ol' Rusty)... but just the fun of them even attempting it is absolutely effervescent! :-D

I mean, Moff is more of the classic Who reference sort of writer than RTD, imo.

You mean, apart from about every other word, and Sensorites, Macra, Autons... ?

Yeah, I think it's probably 50/50 on whose idea it was. What's the situation regarding SJA, precisely - is it now part of the Moff's Evil Empire ;D, or does Rusty still have an input (I understand he retains control of Torchwood...if Torchwood even exists any more apart from the much-rumoured US remake...)?
Either way, neither one of them exactly stints on the oldschool references, which is not a bad thing from my point of view... ;D

The Moff doesn't like Doctor mash-ups (he keeps claiming), so my money is with Rusty, but, let me just say, for the record:
EEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeee Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHH!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
Ahem.
As long as this doesn't get all cocked up and end with disastrous character retconnation that is. But you know, it would have to be pretty damn bad to overwhelm the squee of seeing them all together. Especially with Matty boy being so ridiculously awesome as he is (I'm falling slightly in love with Eleven. It was the ]jammy dodgey that did it, or perhaps the mad shouty fit... that episode was dubious at best, but there were some golden moments shining through).
And now Sarah-Jane and Luke will get some closure after that scene at the end of EOT. Another episode that was made of dodgey... but that moment when she looked at Ten and it was so obvious that she knew what was happening. Well, I cried more at that then the ludicrous Ood-lullaby it ended on anyway .

The Moff doesn't like Doctor mash-ups (he keeps claiming), so my money is with Rusty... What! What!!! What? !!! What about Time Crash or the 1990's Curse of the Fatal Death? Or the fact that in his other works, he constantly references old Who. Don't tell me I need to drag out the Coupling references again. Especially with Matty boy being so ridiculously awesome as he is (I'm falling slightly in love with Eleven. It was the ]jammy dodgey that did it, or perhaps the mad shouty fit... that episode was dubious at best, but there were some golden moments shining through). I'm with you there, CP. Hook, line, and sinker.
You and me both. Of course, I still think the lines that Luke said to him hinted... that Luke might have already seen Eleven before Ten appeared to saved his life... so he really was surprised... and perhaps meeting Eleven, she knows something Ten didn't at that time. SJ could be crying not only for his soon to be regeneration but something dark that would happen to him even after regenerating, especially if the finale villain of series 5 doesn't end well for Eleven and/or Amy OR if something happened in that crossover story.

* I fear what RTD could do to Jo* SFX seemed impressed. (If you're avoiding the SJA casting spoiler in this thread, don't hover over the link, let alone click it! ) They also say: Hmm.

But my favourite bit of the whole story was a cheeky exchange between Clyde and the Doctor, which puts the lid on a couple of fanboy debates that have been raging for decades in the space of a couple of lines – that is, if you take what the Doctor says seriously. The thought that one of these lines could soon be “officially canon” is extremely amusing…
This? DO WANT!

I don't know if people have seen this already, but they've released cover images for the novelisations of the new series of SJA, including this story: doctorwhotv.co.uk/smith-in-death-of-the-doctor-8634.htmObvious questions: * Where's Jo? What the heck is that rubber vulture-thing?? Whatever it is, it's called a "Shansheeth", though, so you can tell it's written by RTD. ;D Or is it? Because the book cover says Gary Russell...mind you, in the days of the old Target books, the screenwriter only sometimes wrote the novelisation - Terrance Dicks wrote about half of them! And - whaddya think of Eleven's newish costume? Different jacket, shirt and bowtie, but still a jacket, shirt and bowtie. I feel unaccountably relieved (about the bowtie, I mean - I always assumed he'd still be wearing a shirt! ;D)*

My guess is *they're trying to keep this ridiculously well-known casting a surprise to those who are slow off the mark? * At least I hope that's what it is and not that **Jo's been edited down to a mere cameo.*

Obvious questions: * (about the bowtie, I mean - I always assumed he'd still be wearing a shirt! ;D)* Why assume that? This IS the Doctor who let his towel slip during prime time after all
