There are SPOILERS below. SPOILERS of the season 5 title and episode description variety. Yep. We've finally got some definite info on what Matty boy's going to be doing. (and yes, I am going to persist in calling him Matty boy. Probably indefinitely.)
I've shamelessly stolen this list from the doctorwho community on lj, but the poster there stole it from ONTD so...
Episode 01: The Eleventh Hour. Writer Steven Moffat. Episode 02: Title TBC. Writer Steven Moffat. Episode 03: Title TBC. Writer Mark Gatiss (Daleks & Churchill). Episode 04: Time of Angels. Writer Steven Moffat (Weeping Angels, River Song, part 1/2). Episode 05: Flesh & Stone. Writer Steven Moffat (Weeping Angels, River Song, part 2/2). Episode 06: Vampires of Venice. Writer Toby Whithouse. Episode 07: Title & Writer TBC. Episode 08: Title TBC. Writer Chris Chibnall (Silurians part 1/2). Episode 09: Cold Blood. Writer Chris Chibnall (Silurians, part 2/2). Episode 10: Vincent & The Doctor. Writer Richard Curtis (Van Gogh). Episode 11: Title & Writer TBC. Episode 12 and 13: Titles TBC. Writer Steven Moffat. Episode 14: (Xmas 2010) Title & Writer TBC (Assuming there is a xmas episode)
thoughts?
I think the title for episode one is highly amusing. That vampire were bound to be in the roster, but the Venice part makes me intrigued (and wondering a bit if it'll rip off that Big Finish story...) Also, Silurians. YAY! And Van Gogh! Double Yay! (sorry Churchill, but I just can't get excited for MORE Daleks)
Episode 4/5 just makes me face!palm

I saw that list too - don't know if it's true or not, but it's certainly intriguing... * Silurians?! Excellent! Looking forward to this one already...
Weeping Angels/River Song... er... _could_ be good, I suppose, but might not live up to the expectations raised by Blink. And... River Song...
The Daleks and Churchill one - I could do with a bit of a break from NuWho Daleks too, but this one sounds goofy enough to be worth seeing.
Vampires in Venice? And these would be one of the (counts; State of Decay's Three Who Rule, Curse of Fenric's Haemovores, Smith and Jones's Woman out of Corrie with a Straw...) three? different types of vampires already running around the Whoniverse, or some completely different new type? ;D* Speaking of SPOILERS - this made me LOL - see how long it takes you to "get it": community.livejournal.com/doctorwho/5302055.html

The thing about the trousers amused me greatly.

That took me far longer than it should have. I wasn't convinced she wasn't talking about the 4.5 half season we're getting. Yes, I'm slow...
luckily I didn't make any embarrassing posts in the meantime.
Here's hoping Amy does gain trousers at some point though, or at least a longer skirt!*

Oohh...
*So, that will be the Venice episode then, from the look of it? From the costumes, it looks like Eleven's bang in the middle of the Renaissance too - here's hoping for plenty of plotting, poisoning and buckles being swashed.
And will someone get that poor girl a pair of jeans? ;D*

I want season 5 right now. What are the odds of it being a real historical? (pretty low with the vampires, but...)
I'm excited about how the TARDIS is apparently going to be functioning as an actual bon-fide TIME MACHINE. Now, to add a bit of space into it... but then, we never get as many spoilers for the space eppies, them being mostly studio filmed and all...
*hopes*

JJ, you're going to need to sit down before reading this. You might just fall over otherwise. Digital Spy reveals the identity of a series five guest star, and the role he'll play:
Bill Nighy is to guest star in an episode of the new series of Doctor Who, Digital Spy can reveal.
The veteran actor will play the curator of a Vincent van Gogh exhibition in the episode, which is penned by Richard Curtis.
A set insider told DS: "It was a real coup to get Bill Nighy in Doctor Who, especially in Richard Curtis's amazing episode. Bill plays a van Gogh expert with some similar fashion choices to The Doctor himself."
The story is set both in the present day and 19th Century France. This Life actor Tony Curran was previously confirmed in the role of van Gogh.
The episode - the tenth in the new series - was filmed on location in Croatia and Cardiff over Christmas.
A BBC spokesperson said: "We do not comment on storyline or character speculation."

Heheh - great! ;D
*Curtis must have tapped him up for the part, because he was in that godawful film "Love Actually" for which Curtis was responsible...*
I read a rumour the other day that Series 1/5/31 might premiere on Easter Saturday, April 3, here in the UK, but I haven't been able to find anything to corroborate this. If anything, this seems a bit late to me, because surely they don't want it still on when the World Cup starts in the summer, which will lead to scheduling being messed around etc, but that's the best guess I've come across so far.

OOoh hey, there is an interview out that pretty much confirms what we all already knew but I shall link to the site anyway (and may I say this site is great is DWnews) news.whoviannet.co.uk/it's the second article from the top. and I find it exciting (which is great as hope has been slowly draining from me since EoT part one aired). And in more exciting news the BESTEST thing EVAH (as rtd was wont to say) has happened!!! ** Holy Hecker-deckers, I am SOOO SOOO excited to say NEIL GAIMAN has signed on to write an episode for series six!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!** Sadly, the link includes the spoiler and I don't know if you can white links out, it's on DenofGeek, if anyone needs to check my source

Heheh! ;D
*Silurians! I'm looking forward to that one, actually, provided they live up to their original story (which is a big ask, I realise). Wonder if there'll be any Sea Devils in string vests along for the ride?
Stonehenge! With River Song there?! I have a feeling I know who the mystery "third companion" that spoiler from the other week mentioned might be, and it's not going to please those of us who are unconvinced by Prof. Song, I suspect...
Agreed - great news on Gaiman. The trumpets of fury coming from some sections of fandom at this announcement are inexplicable, amusing and a little bit sad. Sure, I respect the tastes of opinions of people who don't enjoy his body of work and don't want to see more of the same in Who. Okay. What I don't get is the people who are going mad because "this shows Moffat's bias towards established writers" or some such tosh. Well...yeah... I'd say that for your precious 13 episodes a year, you'd want the best writers you could possibly get, and Gaiman certainly falls into that category. As for the ones who say he's never written for television before, that's plain wrong; I believe he wrote the TV series of Neverwhere, which is a cracker despite having an even lower budget than classic Who, and the Babylon 5 episode Day of the Dead which, for those who know their B5 (what can I say? I used to watch a lot of telly as a student!) is definitely one of the good'uns.*

PROMO PHOTO TIME!! www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/2856584/Doctor-Whos-new-series-picture-promo.htmlSo, assuming that's the new Time Vortex/ openning sequence graphic, what are your thoughts? My first thought was "that tunnel from Coraline" followed by "Listerine in a coin wash during the spin-cycle"
Which isn't to say I don't like it. Actually, if it does end up being like the Coraline tunnel, well, that's just appropriate considering who may very probably be joining the writer's roster next year (SQUEE!)
Also, the Saw-like villain in the bottom right is going to give me nightmares isn't he? *

Interesting, very interesting (even if my finger nearly spontaneously combusted just for clicking on a link to The Scum website - those people are the enemy, I tell you)...
*It's very...blue isn't it? I can just imagine the boy Smith's face LOOMing out of that tunnel as it is alleged to do in the new title sequence - just like old Tom back in 197something, but saner looking and on a bigger budget... ;D
I love living in an era when Doctor who is so retrenched in popular culture that a gutter tabloid can just mention Weeping Angels, and assume people will know what they're talking about...*
In other news, my attention was drawn to this. It's the Daily Star, so not quite as evil as The Scum, but about as reliable. I won't post the link for fear of my fellow DbyAers accidentally clicking on something offensive, so you'll just have to trust me and believe I didn't make the following up. ;D
*NEW Doctor Who Matt Smith will have to fight Cybermen, Sontarans and Daleks in his end-of-season cliffhanger.
The Time Lord and his sidekick Amy Pond (Karen Gillan, 22) will end up battling for their lives in the TV finale of the new BBC1 series.
A host of old foes will be unleashed in the story called The Pandorica Opens.
Fans will get to see show faves the Cybermen, the Daleks and the Sontarans among the flood of aliens hurtling towards Earth, hell-bent on destruction. And The Doctor is the only person who can stop them.
A source said: “The producers wanted Matt to end his first season as the Time Lord with something explosive and exciting. And this fits the bill.
“It’s got all the right elements for a great finale and plenty of opportunities for cliffhangers, with fans not knowing who survives.”
The show’s new executive producer Steven Moffat has already teased about the end of the series.
He said: “David Tennant’s Doctor faced The End of Time at Christmas but don’t assume we’ve faced the biggest threat yet.
“I believe we do have a good one, which is great.”
Doctor Who returns to our screens in the spring.
Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood is coming back – on the net.
The BBC has yet to decide whether the show will return on telly so Titan comics and the TV channel Watch have teamed up to broadcast the show as a comic adventure on justwatch.co.uk. *
I...kind of hope this isn't true. I'm still keeping the faith in the Moff but if it is true, it has the potential to turn into another messy RTD-style finale that is not quite as kewl as the sum of its parts...
I'll just be over here, as usual:
la la la la la la... ;D

Yeah, bear in mind that it is the Daily Star who said this, and they are about as reliable as...a very unreliable thing...
I would say that the one thing the Moff's stories really do have going for them so far is tight plotting - even if it is at times convoluted, it never feels handwaved - surely that has to stand him in good stead as far as season finales go?
