Does anyone around here write poetry? Even bad poetry?
I was kind of wondering if anyone would care to join in a variation of poetry tag, but with a Whovian/DBA/Fandom theme.
For anyone who might not know - poetry tag (in this case) is where one person posts a poem relating to the last line/stanza of the previous person's poem (or their prompts, if they leave some)... for instance.
Person 1
Plotbunnies attack me With little feet. Some hop madly about And shout "Exterminate!" And others "Reciprocate!" Still others "Create! Create!" And funny Enough I only seem to doubt The ones that hide in their hutches And hog all the metaphorical carrots.
prompts: carrots, doubt
Person 2 (going with "doubt")
A Passing Adventure
A boy stares out the window Across wind-touseled fog The year is 1940, And November on the way
A light slips through the evening, Flashing far across the lough He searches for a source But finds it empty the first day
A voice speaks from the radio It says we're not alone He thinks it's just a story Until the second day
A girl is crying softly Parents send him up to bed But he isn't fool enough To think the monster's gone away
A man was in his closet But he can't recall his name Only eyes and missing memories He knows he must obey
Awake! And eyes are staring His hands release their hold Vocals blur; he's caught Against two heartbeats, all is grey
His mother has been crying And the walls are stained with black, And blue, but in periphery It vanishes away...
A man walks past a phonebox, A step falls out of beat The year is 1990 And he dares to halt and pray
A hand brushes the window Across time-weathered glass An old joint slips, but halts As double-pulse hands block the way.
A man smiles out the window And listens to his guests Tell a thousand years of story, A boy's concerns allayed
prompts: guests, relief -------------------------
And so on and so forth...
Any takers?

What did you think that "plotbunny" thing was? Really, bad poetry is pretty amusing, too? *hope hope*
I mean, it's easy to make something up if the quality is unimportant, um... let's see...
Alistair, Alistair Has a nice derriere
... No. Scrap that one. But you see my point?

I'll play! Do I just use relief or guests as a prompt then?

the guests had been late the food was going to waste this day; no relief
(I know it's haiku and fairly crappy at that but I'm really just warming up)
prompts food and waste

(Oh, you were just asking for this)
---
And as the Time Lord waited, He thought of the very many things he hated:
Burning toast and sad love stories, Ood imprisoned in the holds of space lorries,
Which led him back to being alone, On a picnic far from home,
Which was gone, Because he'd blown it up.
Then, before angst could set in, the guests showed up!
The TARDIS was the first on the scene, and oh how her paneling gleamed. Out hopped a Doctor, one, two, three, more - Quite a few Doctors, I won't list them all.
But the one wearing beige tripped over the one with the scarf, And then from the distance came a menacing larf,
A cackle more like, at the chaos in the making, The Master, you see, had been doing some baking.
Some wibbling later, some wobbles and grief, The Tenth Doctor was stripped to his briefs!
And covered in cake, for reasons unknown, (At least it didn't involve hands, or premature glowing!)
The one in the ruffles had a disapproving frown, While the beige instigator just stared at the ground.
Some seeing this scene would say, "Ack! What a waste!" But, as every DbyAer knows, Ten!cakes have the best taste!
... Prompts: Master, scarf

(My regrets to Hiawatha).
Deep below the palace kitchens In a dimly-shadowed passage Two companions hurried onward Meeting not each other's glances Fearing they might lose composure Wondering with apprehension Would the Doctor wax with fury Hearing he had lost his neckwear Lost his multicoloured neckwear? Somewhere in the rooms behind them Gagged and bound with woollen cordage Was the Master, caught abruptly In the midst of all his plotting Caught ere he could even struggle Caught and rendered briefly harmless. Thus they scurried through the tunnel Tegan and the golden-headed Romanadvoratrelundar.

Johne! Ohhh... I love this most excellent fan verse! I love it so much! *squee* Wrapping the Master in 4's scarf! XD
(PS: Clocket, what happened to the line about "licking it off" or however that went...? That made my morning yesterday.) Romana sez:
My sense of dress May not impress the High Council, it's true At least I have the self-respect Not to dress like you!
--------- (and then, of course, her second regeneration goes and does just that... ) Four: Exactly! Good heavens, that's exactly right! Ha! I never realized you had such a sense of style.
prompts: snooty, arrogant

These are all quite good! I am dusting off my poetry hat.
A haughty Time Lady from Gallifrey Stunned the Doctor to silence one fateful day Her boast of "triple first" Implied the Doc was the worst And the perfect pair went on their merry way
Prompts: travel, companion

(I can't help but feeling like this would give people the wrong impression about what TARDIS travel entails, but the Doctor is sometimes sort of obtuse...)
Attention! Bored with your life and looking for fun? Companion is wanted to be TARDIS plus one You must enjoy travel, should have open mind It helps to be curious, fearless, and kind This is a job offering like no other Housing provided, please don't tell your mother So call the number below, and don't be deterred by the area code. P.S. - blondes are preferred.
Prompts: K-9, evil laughter.

(PS: Clocket, what happened to the line about "licking it off" or however that went...? That made my morning yesterday.) Ah, I'm well known for not ceasing to fiddle with things long after I should. But, here, it can be an alternate ending: Some seeing this scene would say, "Ack! What a waste of good cake!" A DbyAer however knows, "you can still lick it off, for goodness sake!" --- IM, that line of verse is brilliant. You should be putting it on the Teaspoon, y/y?

I'm soooo impressed by you all. I just don't do poetry. I mean, I like reading it, and quoting it unnecessarily, but writing it?
So I love your efforts - wow!
