To be honest, I think the genre could do with a bit of expansion, as it were; radioactive lobsters, in fact, seem like the way to go...

Just to review, so that I can better prepare for my deadly serious cake epic: So, basically, what we're talking about here is a scenario where 1. Ten... 2. Is chained to... 3. Three 4. Possibly by the Master... 5. Covered in cake... 6. And without any clothes on... 7. Apart from Three's cape... Are these the precise parameters we are to work within? Possible story elements I am toying with: A giant radioactive lobster who won't stop pestering people to play parcheesi with him anti-matter frosting Magnus, you're just wonderful. If I find the Random Pairing Generator lets me down one day, can I come to you for ideas? I really, really hope you're serious, because I'm sure the genre has room for lobsters and frosting.

My brain is a random idea generator mistakenly installed in a human skull owing to a wrongly filled-out invoice or work order of some kind.
I have never read or listened to Stephen King.
So, this is a genre now?!
My quoting of the list of story elements was meant to elicit a confirmation that they are the only ones I need to keep in mind. I'm taking them as gospel till I'm told otherwise. I like sounding all serious about writing the naked cake story. Hey, a bit a deja vu just whipped past me there. Over now.
I think we should assemble all these cake stories in a privately-published volume with a fine Dalek-mutant-skin cover, and covered with bits of encrusted cake.
I'm a weird one as I keep proving to the world on an hourly basis. I just went off and planned out the whole cake story including a lot of the jokes. I have notes for it all. The weird part is that I did it while absolutely utterly miserable, with each moment of focusing giving me pain to the point of nausea.
The lobster comes under the heading of ideas I put out there initially because they're things I'd never ever write, that's the joke. Then I use them. I've done that a lot.

It's often an effective approach, I think.

I'm in that frustrating interval between posting and being accepted. After the last rejection, I half expect this one to be rejected, even though I can't imagine any reason for it. It's been 24 hours. Anyway, I did my cake thing! I'll post it here if Teaspoon doesn't want it.

Magnus, if the Teaspoon does not accept I will cry. There should always be room for cake with tea!

*works busily away on her own cake fic* Oh my goodness! More cake! *faints again, after having only just come round from previous swoon* (Heh, of course, I'm only after kidnapping your stories and putting them in my series in the weird power trip way Teaspoon does open series...!!! Bwa ha haha... *gulps* I really should never have signed up as part of JJ's science team, even for a second...)

;D ;D ;D Frosting and lobster!!! It's up there and I read it and added it to the series. It was very daft, but in the right sort of way and some great Three/Ten banter there. I've left my thoughts on the review there for you, but it made me grin a fair bit. A bit Red Dwarfish ("It's the same old story: droid meets droid, droid turns into blob, droid loses blob...")

Mine's awaiting approval as well, I'm afraid it isn't as sublime as Magnus's but i do hope it passes muster.

It will Not Die.
What have you done to me? I've just written a Christmas Fruitcakefic (though I did leave Ten a few tatters) - I can't help but wonder how many permutations we can come up with before we've used them all up.
